A series that showcased several outstanding players – from Ambrose and Walsh’s aggressive rearguard efforts to McGrath and Reiffel’s bowling performances in each Test match – though Australia dominated all five Test matches by winning four outright.
West Indies Cricket Team Vs Australian Men’s Cricket Team Match Scorecard shows a dramatic and unfinished contest at Port of Spain, where Australia was in a strong position before crowd riots put an abrupt halt to play with one West Indies wicket remaining.
Australia had dominated key phases of the match with disciplined bowling and steady batting during the chase, putting them on course for a comfortable victory.
However, the sudden disruption in the stands forced officials to stop the game, leaving the result incomplete and the final West Indies wicket yet to fall, turning what looked like a decisive Australian win into one of the most controversial and abandoned moments in the rivalry.

1. Test Match
Test Matches are the pinnacle of international cricket competition. Played over five days and featuring both teams playing two innings each in order to decide the victor, these matches can be decided by numerous factors including weather conditions, pitch conditions, player skill and determination – among them weather, pitch condition or wicket wins; generally the team that wins more wickets will emerge victorious, although in rare instances a draw may also occur.
Test matches between full members of the International Cricket Council are often broadcast live on television. Recently, certain tests have also been played under artificial lighting known as Day-Night Tests to appeal to a wider audience; West Indies and Australia held their inaugural Day-Night Test back in 1997.
Australia was victorious in Grenada’s second Test after dropping their opening match, dominating it within three days to seal victory with Shamar Joseph (4-66) and Alzarri Joseph taking advantage of Windies batting to help give Australia an unassailable 2-0 advantage.
Next week, Australia looks set to seal their white-ball series victory by defeating Jamaica in three straight white-ball matches, making them favourites to achieve an undefeated record on home soil. Jamaica must hone their bowling game in order to prevent Windies players from reaching 300+ on an unpredictable pitch and claim victory.
An Aussie win would see them move up to fourth in the world rankings and increase their chances of qualifying for this year’s ICC World Cup tournament.
Their previous performance against Windies Test cricket was impressive: 12 out of 13 victories were recorded in this format.
Windies cricketers have made a strong start to their tour of Australia, with Shimron Hetmyer leading with two half-centuries and being supported by Cameron Green, Tim David and Mitch Owen at The Gabba.
2. T20I
Twenty20 international cricket is an exciting, fast-paced, fast pitch format which usually lasts three hours or less from start to finish, unlike Test matches which may extend over several days or more.
Twenty20 demands big hits from batsmen and explosive bowling attacks from bowlers alike on its fast pitch surface.
Add fast pitch speed with frequent rope-clearing opportunities, and T20 becomes all about big moments and unforgettable entertainment – it no doubt attracts the world’s finest cricket players while captivating spectators worldwide!
Australia continued their unassailable lead over West Indies in T20I series play on Sunday by defeating them easily in their second T20I.
Australia set their hosts 277 runs to win on a difficult pitch before dismantling their batting order with ease; Shamar Joseph (4-66) and Alzarri Joseph quickly picked off Marsh (1 off seven mishitting to leg stump, while Inglis (4 off 15) top-edged one to wicketkeeper Glenn Maxwell for wicketkeeping success.
Hope was unable to replicate his impressive form from St Kitts as he reached his seventh T20I fifty in 37 balls before holeing out to gully off Dwarshuis. Tim David made his maiden T20I fifty with a rapid one-handed slam over fine leg boundary off Zampa for his maiden T20I fifty.
Mitchell Owen excelled on his debut, joining with Green to take Australia from 4-78 to 5-158 with eight overs remaining. Owen hit two sixes and four fours off his first five balls as he swiftly moved from fourth wicket to third wicket without difficulty before Joseph accidentally sent Motie over Hetmyer off Motie in the final over.
Windies were dismissed for 27 in the 19th over, with Green catching Andre Russell (8) brilliantly on the long off boundary and Sherfane Rutherford (0 not out) feathering a hook to Adam Zampa at deep backward square leg.
Shimron Hetmyer added one run before being trapped leg before by Dwarshuis off Boland’s third delivery for 38 not out and becoming 12th Windies player to surpass 1000 T20I runs regardless of his early exit.

3. T20I ODI
ODIs (One Day Internationals) are twenty-over formats of cricket played over a short period of time; typically three to five matches depending on organisers and country of play. Each match lasts 50 minutes with nine wickets taken per innings being taken per innings; these matches may take place both domestically and internationally at stadiums, parks, cricket centres schools and universities and can even feature at universities – they’re very popular across America, Australia New Zealand South Africa Asia as well as being second most significant for West Indies cricket players!
West Indies and Australia will square off in a four-match One Day International (ODI) series beginning 6 February 2024, at The Gabba in Brisbane, Queensland Australia – it’s their first since World Cup 2022! After that, three more ODIs will follow before concluding with one T20I match held at Sydney Cricket Ground on 12 February.
Australia will make several adjustments to their side that defeated Windies in St Kitts and Nevis for their fourth One-Day International (ODI). Shamar Joseph will be replaced by Mitch Marsh while Brendan Taylor and Mitchell Starc join Brendan as squad players, and Justin Greaves and Kavem Hodge both will make their Australian debuts.
The Windies have made Shimron Hetmyer’s absence from their white-ball squad during their Australian tour permanent after making him unavailable as an experiment in July; He will miss all three ODIs scheduled in October as well, giving him more time to focus on qualifying for World Cup 2019.
Windies managed to put in a good performance despite losing the opening ODI at The Gabba, taking Australia all the way back down to 24-4. Cameron Green, Tim David and Mitch Owen scored valuable runs for their side with one hitting an unbeaten 71 from 31 balls en route to helping reach 170 at Warner Park.
Pakistan will travel to Australia from August 10-14 for two ODIs and three T20Is, while India are touring Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is from August 29-Sept 3. Zimbabwe then host South Africa for three ODIs and three T20Is between Aug 29-Sept 3, culminating with their Freedom Trophy series between Cuttack, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad taking place between November 6-14th.
On Thursday, Australia and Windies will face each other in their inaugural T20I at Arnos Vale Stadium. The Windies hope to avoid back-to-back losses in this format for the first time since July 2023 and only one win away from winning six consecutive away T20Is since October 2024; Australia have never experienced that scenario on foreign soil and look set to extend their 12-win streak further this time around.
The Twenty20 format of cricket is an action-packed and exhilarating format of play that encourages aggressive batting and strategic bowling. Games typically last three hours with limited overs creating an intense environment where every ball matters.
Furthermore, T20 games feature specific fielding restrictions known as Powerplay which add a further level of intensity: only two fielders may remain outside of 30-yard circle during its initial six overs which makes this opening phase of each match crucial to both batting and bowling sides.
Hayley Matthews will lead an unchanged West Indies squad in this series and is looking to break through to 3,000 T20 runs for her side – just 61 away from becoming the third Windies player after Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin to reach this landmark.
Additionally, their arsenal features numerous explosive batsmen such as former Big Bash League players Chinelle Henry and Eboni Brathwaite as well as teenager Jahzara Claxton who could all contribute immensely to achieving Hayley Matthews reaching this feat!
Windies and Australia have seen vastly differing fortunes this T20I season, with Australia winning six out of their seven matches while Windies suffered four defeats; nonetheless, both will look to gain momentum heading into next month’s T20 World Cup in England.
West Indies Cricket Team Vs Australian Men’s Cricket Team Match Scorecard shows that on Saturday, both teams will play their second T20I before taking a short break before beginning a five-match ODI series at the same venue where T20Is were held — each featuring single innings games with both sides being allowed ten overs to bat in each ODI game.
