The match was marred by onfield controversy due to umpires’ ineffective control and poor calls, leading to some upset from both teams’ players and spectators.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became upset with an umpire’s call on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi which caused him to argue with them before eventually being calmed by experienced Dickwella.

India A, after an inauspicious start, produced their best cricket of the tournament over their final two games and secured their spot in the final. Facing Sri Lanka A in their quest to reach the final, India A bowled well against them to ensure they did not get an early advantage in run chase and took quick wickets to increase pressure before eventually the batsmen did their work to seal victory for India A.
India A was reduced to 143/7 by Suryansh Shedge and Vipraj Nigam in the 13th over, but they rallied strongly with some timely runs to take their score closer to 300 and eventually reached 309/6 and secure an early lead in the match.
Arshad Khan produced an unforgettable last ball to end Sri Lanka A’s innings – it was short but beautifully delivered, angling in on middle and leg before being swung around for four.
Unfortunately for them though, Sri Lanka A struggled in their run chase as Arshad’s ball flew past their wicketkeeper to hit middle stump instead, leaving Sri Lanka A lagging behind in terms of scoring runs.
Sadeera Samarawickrama then hit two consecutive boundaries off Nishant Sindhu in the 15th over, only to be caught by Sahan off Ashok Sharma’s bowling for 51 runs off 44 balls when Sadeera Samarawickrama reached 17th over with score at 1835/5.
At the close of their innings, Indian support staff became engaged in an animated exchange with some Sri Lankan fielders. It all began when Vishen Halambage applauded for the home team while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shoved him away with his left hand, prompting experienced Dickwella to intervene and separate both parties and de-escalate any tensions.
Sooryavanshi could then be seen speaking to the umpires while Sri Lankan players looked on bemusedly.
