The Afghanistan National Cricket Team Vs United Arab Emirates National Cricket Team Match Scorecard highlights a dominant performance from Afghanistan, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s brilliant century and Ibrahim Zadran’s half-century helping Afghanistan post an enormous total.
UAE struggled in response, with Vriitya Aravind being their only player making any headway. Azmatullah Omarzai’s impressive four-wicket haul for Afghanistan was key to restricting the UAE batting lineup. Afghanistan now hold one point and can qualify for the Super-8 stage of the tournament. Unfortunately for UAE fans, though, this heartbreak will linger long in their memory.

Afghanistan vs UAE
Afghanistan overcame all odds to beat UAE and maintain their slim Super-8 hopes, thanks to Azmatullah Omarzai. When UAE struggled to make runs on a Delhi pitch that remained slow and grippy, Omarzai took control with some clarity of purpose – first striking straight and true against Syed Haider off-stump bail before jagging Siddique delivery around corner to hit Harshit Kaushik back behind to the keeper for four.
Prior to that, UAE had appeared destined for early exit when Junaid Siddique caught Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck and sent Sediqullah Atal and Gulbadin Naib skidding off successive deliveries by Junaid Siddique to be stumped off consecutive deliveries from Junaid Siddique.
But Ibrahim Zadran’s steady consolidation (including his half century ) kept them alive, until Muhammad Arfan used his pace and skill to remove Zadran in 14th over at exactly when UAE needed him most.
Afghanistan vs Pakistan
Afghanistan and Pakistan will meet on Sunday, 7 June 2026 for their next match-up, which currently stands at 5-4 in favor of Pakistan and boasting an average score of 2.8 goals per game over their last five matches – which makes Pakistan the leader with most league points!
Afghanistan and Pakistan enjoy an intense regional sporting rivalry that spans cricket, football and other sports. This stems from strong cultural, social, and political links between their two nations; these teams have met three times so far for One Day Internationals; with Pakistan winning two and Afghanistan one.
Afghanistan made Pakistan work for their runs despite only fielding 11 players throughout most of their innings, but managed to give themselves hope of victory by hitting an unbeaten 21-ball 40 by Azmatullah Omarzai; Muhammad Arfan took two wickets during a crucial spell and provided Afghanistan with some hope of success late on in their run chase.
This match will be key for both sides as they vie to secure one of four top-four spots in the tournament. A win would secure their position while defeat would leave them eliminated from competition.
Both sides feature some strong players and need to perform at their best in order to achieve victory; otherwise they risk a draw and being knocked out altogether. It all boils down to who can handle pressure better and deliver under scrutiny – both players will likely have their work cut out for them!
Afghanistan vs New Zealand
New Zealand must rebuild their confidence following an embarrassing T20I loss against India, and gain back some faith in their ability to handle high-profile opponents.
They possess a solid squad with depth and adaptability allowing for early setbacks while their spinners can smother opposition batsmen on pitches like Chepauk.
Afghanistan took control in their opening World Cup match thanks to Gulbadin Naib and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s early strikes, but Tim Seifert’s half century and Glenn Phillips’ contribution ensured New Zealand edged out Afghan challenge in a tight contest.
The opening game of any tournament often sets the tone and will have an enormous effect on its future success. Both sides understand the significance of making an impressionful first impression to stay in contention for making the Final Four.
Afghanistan needs a win to strengthen their chances of automatic qualification from Group Stage; conversely, defeat would increase pressure on them for remaining matches. New Zealand, however, are eager to demonstrate they can recover from an early defeat and perform in important matches.
Both teams are evenly matched when it comes to team strength. New Zealand boasts an experienced squad that can adapt well to various conditions, while Afghanistan have several spin options led by Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad – the latter is especially valued due to his success in Indian Premier League cricket, making his availability at Chennai essential.
Both teams will look to take advantage of Chennai’s favorable conditions, which should favour spinners. New Zealand will likely employ a pace-heavy line-up featuring Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry while No. 3 Rachin Ravindra can provide variation to their attack. Ish Sodhi has made his comeback after recovering from injury. Unfortunately for New Zealand however, his absence due to a calf issue could hamper their pace bowling attack.
Afghanistan vs South Africa
Afghanistan have one final chance to save their 2026 T20 World Cup hopes following an agonising defeat – but only by pulling off a miracle against New Zealand and beating the loser of South Africa-Canada match-up on Thursday in Delhi.
South Africa edged out an under-par Afghanistan to set up a second super over in Ahmedabad, in a thrilling contest that could have gone either way.
Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickleton shined for South Africa as they posted 187/6 before Rahmanullah Gurbaz led an amazing comeback of 84 from 42 deliveries by Rahmanullah Gurbaz to score an amazing comeback innings from just 42 deliveries by Rahmanullah Gurbaz alone!
Dewald Brevis, David Miller and even Azmatullah Omarzai made vital contributions while Dewald Brevis Brevis Miller contributed crucial runs but in this one-sided affair, only Gurbaz could pull it out and secure victory from this potentially nail-biter of an encounter!
Gurbaz played an incredible innings before being dismissed off Maharaj’s final ball of the main game – an outside-off full and wide delivery that Gurbaz tried to carve but ended up slicing straight to backward point. Maharaj appeared rattled after that dismissal, but Afghanistan only needed four to win and force a third Super Over.
The Afghanistan National Cricket Team Vs United Arab Emirates National Cricket Team Match Scorecard highlights how crucial this moment was, as the match could have taken a completely different turn.
