The venue hosts national and international cricket matches, including the annual Champions Trophy. It has also been the host of several IPL finals, including the 2019 edition. In addition to hosting major events, the Wankhede Stadium is a popular spot for weddings and corporate events. Yashasvi Jaiswal was one of the leading run scorers for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy during the 2024-25 Ranji season. He scored 4 and 26 in Mumbai’s first innings against Jammu and Kashmir, and was the team’s second highest run scorer in their second innings. However, he had to miss out on the chance to play in the Ranji semi-final against Vidarbha due to injury.
He later switched allegiance to Goa for the Ranji Trophy Elite Division in the 2025-26 season. He made his debut for the Goa cricket team during their home series against Mumbai.
