Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard

Mumbai Indians scored an emphatic win over Bengaluru bowlers at Wankhede stadium to demonstrate their dominance with an emphatic performance. Ishan Kishan’s brilliant innings, Rohit Sharma’s 50 and Suryakumar Yadav’s contributions all played key roles in helping Mumbai reach their target easily.

Faf du Plessis notes that dew factor was a challenge for them and concedes it as being one of their main issues. In this article, we will discuss the top players and high lights of Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard.

Ishan Kishan 69

Mumbai Indians rode Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav’s impressive batting performance to secure a seven-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium, winning by seven wickets for their twenty-fifth Indian Premier League 2024 match at the Wankhede Stadium in their twenty-fifth match of 2024 IPL at Wankhede. RCB suffered their fifth defeat in six matches with their net run rate being significantly affected; MI moved up four places to seventh spot with four points to move further up.

Rohit Sharma (38 off 24 balls, 3 fours and two sixes) and Ishan Kishan (51) came together for an impressive 101-run opening partnership that lasted less than nine overs to set the tone of their innings. Kishan then struck two fours and three massive sixes during his magnificent 69-ball innings to race towards an exceptional maiden fifty, helping their hosts finish on 196-8 after twenty overs of play.

At a match where an impressive total was always possible, Ishan powered through Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers with his bat to smash it to all corners of the ground. Unfortunately he fell prey to debutant Will Jacks off Reece Topley who took an extraordinary one-handed diving catch at short fine leg in order to halt his hundred.

Jasprit Bumrah then struck with devastating force to reduce RCB from their commanding position of 195-6 to 196-8 and allow Mumbai the opportunity of easily reaching their target.

Du Plessis had set himself the goal of reaching fifty but mistimed a pull off a googly and was caught behind by Kishan. Ishan returned into play immediately thereafter, taking down Kohli with an incredible lofted six over midwicket off his next delivery.

Hardik Pandya made an immediate impact with his 6 ball 23 not out, smashing three sixes to ensure Mumbai comfortably reached their 20 over target in time. Although initially met with some loud boos from sections of the crowd, he quickly got them behind him by hitting boundaries and taking control of the game.

Rohit Sharma 38

Rohit Sharma made an outstanding comeback against Lucknow Super Giants with an outstanding innings of 68 from 38 deliveries for Mumbai Indians against them, smashing eight sixes and five boundaries to help his side post an impressive total of 214/6 over 20 overs.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli proved a handful for bowlers as he exploited a wicket that didn’t provide much purchase to batsmen. Together with Ishan Kishan he shared an opening partnership of 109 runs during the first 10 overs before losing his touch slightly midway through his wicketless innings in which he still managed to hit some big blows.

Rohit Sharma has been India’s go-to limited overs run scorer, scoring runs prolifically across formats. Now he will look to transition this success into red ball cricket as well. Rohit is undoubtedly an aggressive batsman who relishes scoring massive hundreds. Like Virender Sehwag before him, Rohit is not afraid of taking risks and has an affinity for hitting it out of the park.

Rohit will look to put his disappointing season behind him and help MI into the playoffs with an improved showing, hoping that he can regain his form with both bat and ball as captain of Indian T20 team ahead of T20 World Cup 2019.

RCB are finding it tough to find their form this season and will be desperate to secure a playoff berth. After losing four of their past five matches, Faf du Plessis’ men may be running out of options on how to break out of their current slump; their current top order has been underwhelming so there needs to be changes made in their batting lineup.

Suryakumar Yadav 50

Suryakumar Yadav produced an astounding 17-ball half century as Mumbai Indians comfortably chased down Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s target of 196 runs at Wankhede Stadium for an IPL opener victory. Following Ishan Kishan’s departure after an innings spanning 69 balls, Suryakumar took control of proceedings by hitting five fours and three sixes against Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers as Ishan’s Delhi-based side took total control of proceedings.

Right-hander Arjun Atwal has also become India’s third fastest T20I batsman to score 50, following in the footsteps of Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid. Arjun achieved this milestone in 24 balls, breaking the previous record of 25.

After two early wickets had fallen, Jasprit Bumrah played a pivotal role in building an effective partnership between Faf du Plessis (61 off 58 balls) and Rajat Patidar (52) that ensured Royal Challengers Bengalors stayed in contention for a top four finish until Jasprit Bumrah claimed two late scalps.

Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya provided Mumbai with the anchors they needed at one end and helped their side establish a solid base from which their lower middle-order batsmen took control. Ishan Kishan made his mark by striking a 69-ball fifty before joining forces with Suryakumar to make sure the required run rate stayed within acceptable boundaries.

At the end, they combined for an unbeaten 67-run stand to help Mumbai Indians to their first win of the season and significantly raise their net run rate. As a result, Mumbai recorded their inaugural victory of 2018 and enhanced their net run rate considerably – giving them a much-needed boost as they attempt to return to playoff contention. On the other hand, Bengaluru continued their poor form and suffered five straight defeats. It will be interesting to see how they respond, given that Hyderabad awaits them next in a week – something Bengaluru may want to do to turn things around but first they need to improve their batting unit drastically as having such a weak middle order will impede progress.

Hardik Pandya 30

Hardik Pandya is an all-round cricketer who excels at bowling fast, batting comfortably and fielding efficiently. His performances for India in the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup cemented his standing as one of India’s premier all-rounders and were pivotal in helping end an 11-year wait for a trophy. Hailing from Surat in Gujarat, the 25-year old has diligently worked his craft towards becoming an international icon.

He has become an indispensable cog in India’s team since 2022 and his success at the World Cup proved that. Scoring hundreds in both ODIs and T20Is while taking four wickets per match with the ball. His impressive show at this tournament helped disprove critics who had doubted both his mental and physical fitness.

India was defeated in its semi-final by England, but Pandya still made a stellar performance, scoring 63 off 33 balls. Unbeaten against Pakistan as well, Pandya played an instrumental part in India’s victory and was named Player of Match twice; becoming India’s first ever recipient of such awards twice! He became one of only three Indians ever to achieve such accolades at an international tournament.

In 2022 Indian Premier League season, he led Gujarat Titans to glory by scoring an outstanding 34 off 30 balls with bat and taking 3-17 with ball. Additionally, he excelled in field work – saving runs when required!

Hardik won his maiden IPL tournament as captain for Gujarat-based franchise, making him the first captain since Shane Warne to do so on debut. Furthermore, Hardik was an integral component of India’s 2022 ICC T20 World Cup campaign; his all-round performance and captaincy proved that.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India released a short video featuring Pandya’s teammates celebrating his birthday with Rohit Sharma offering him his best wishes as they celebrated together in the dressing room.
