Rajasthan Royals Vs Chennai Super Kings Match Scorecard

CSK made its IPL debut as one of eight inaugural franchises in 2008. Their home venue is M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Rana’s 58 off the powerplay compensated for low scores from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson; however, Matheesha Pathirana and Khaleel Ahmed effectively put a stop to RR’s run chase as the final overs approached in the Rajasthan Royals Vs Chennai Super Kings Match Scorecard.

Rajasthan Royals vs. Chennai Super Kings

These two teams have met 31 times in the Indian Premier League and CSK have won 16 games compared to RR’s seven victories.

Royals bowlers produced an outstanding bowling performance to restrict Super Kings to just 187/8, with Akash Madhwal (3/29) and Yudhvir Singh (3/47) being key wicket-taker for Royals.

Chasing an impossible 188 target, Rajasthan Royals got off to an excellent start led by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive 36 off 19 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sanju Samson combining for an important fifth wicket partnership of 98 runs that turned the tide against CSK.

IPL 2025

The Indian Premier League 2025 edition will consist of ten teams. Kicking off on March 22, it will see Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens; Qualifier 1 of the playoffs will follow on May 20th before a final take place May 25th.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs and play one another in an one-off match for a spot in the final.

Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants have joined the tournament this season as two new franchises. Both franchises will compete against Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad before eventually facing off against one another for supremacy against Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings who each hold five IPL championship titles respectively – top seeds in this year’s IPL tournament.

Match 1

The Chennai Super Kings (CCK), or simply known by their acronym in India Premier League cricket circles as CSK, was one of eight founding franchises when IPL first began in 2008 and have won five IPL titles – more than any other team has won! Additionally, CSK have qualified for playoffs 12 times, more often than any other.

The Chennai Super Kings, owned by N Srinivasan and led by Stephen Fleming, have become well-known for their economical spending at IPL auctions, purchasing relatively unknown players or uncapped cricketers at reduced costs. Their large, loyal following, known as Yellow Army is also legendary.

The Royals have retained Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag for the 2025 IPL auctions while releasing notable players Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal Ravichandran Ashwin and Trent Boult.

Match 2

After finishing as runners-up in 2021 and 2023, RCB have struggled this season, finishing fourth on the points table with two wins and four losses.

Though both teams have endured disappointing campaigns so far, both have something at stake in this matchup. RR have some pride to defend while CSK have an eye towards reaching the playoffs; additionally they boast talented young players like Brevis Mhatre, Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel that may provide something extra in future matches.

MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have won five IPL titles and appeared in ten finals, becoming joint most successful franchise with Mumbai Indians by qualifying for 12 playoffs and twice winning Champions League T20 titles. Ruturaj Gaikwad currently leads and Stephen Fleming coaches this team.

Match 3

Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural edition of IPL back in 2008. Since then, these two sides have met 31 times; CSK have won 16 and RR 15 of those matches.

In their previous encounter, Ayush Mhatre and Munaf Patel’s bowling masterclass reduced CSK to just 109 in 20 overs before Rajasthan Riders easily chased it down thanks to Dhruv Jurel’s inspired 12-ball 31 and Shimron Hetmyer’s final touches securing victory.

This game will be of vital importance to both teams; RR needs a victory to avoid finishing bottom of the table while CSK must beat GT by an adequate margin to maintain playoff hopes – only the top four teams from league stage qualify for playoffs.

Match 4

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has brought Rajasthan back into the game with an astonishing 53 off 27 balls, hitting Noor Ahmad for three boundaries and then Ravindra Jadeja for another to turn the tables around and give his side hope of an unlikely win.

CSK are at risk of ending the season on an inauspicious note, yet MS Dhoni hopes to end it on a high note by building upon his 59-run partnership with Dewald Brevis.

Both teams currently sit on 15 points and will qualify for the playoffs provided they finish within the top four from league stage. If both RR and CSK finish with equal number of points, any tie would be broken by net run rate; so far RR have the advantage in this department but that could change should both teams win their remaining two matches; otherwise the winner would be determined via Super Over.

Match 5

Chennai Super Kings will meet Rajasthan Royals for their 62nd match of IPL 2025 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Though CSK are out of contention for playoff contention, fans will still tune in as speculations surround MS Dhoni’s future with their franchise.

RR have lost eight out of nine chase games but are hoping to avoid the wooden spoon with a win. R Ashwin has been sensational during their chase so far, hitting many yorkers and reverse swings successfully.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has proven himself an adept ally against Noor Ahmad and Ravindra Jadeja’s spin attacks. Rajasthan are currently at 57 for 1 in the eighth over; far better than expected from their hosts! If they want to win this match on this slow and turning pitch they must keep pressing on with their efforts and maintain momentum to stay competitive.

Match 6

The Royals need to win this match decisively to avoid finishing at the bottom. After defeating MI, DC and SRH in league stage action, one more victory would provide much-needed momentum heading into final round matches against RCB, DD and LSG; for any hope of victory there must be an improved net run rate (NRR) than those four teams.

Though RR had an uneven season, there were still a few highlights they can take away from their campaign. Dewald Brevis, Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi all showed promise and offered glimpses into the franchise’s future.

Additionally they retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal for next year; these players will add depth to the squad, which also features young talent such as Siddharth Trivedi and Mohammad Kaif.

Match 7

CSK have the chance to avoid an embarrassing bottom-place finish in IPL 2025 by winning this matchup, while RR have endured five close finishes this season without success.

Ayush Mhatre was caught at deep midwicket off the first ball of the final over. Dewald Brevis replaced him, but the batsmen have failed to build an innings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi hit an explosive six to bring Rajasthan Royals up to 95/1 in the 14th over, but Noor Ahmad caught him off a short delivery by Noor Ahmad and castled him.

Shimron Hetmyer made an explosive 12-ball 31 and led his side home with more than three overs remaining; their total eclipsed that of last year against this opposition at this venue by more than 200 runs; this win also gave RR an edge in terms of Net Run Rate (NRR), taking them fifth in terms of positional gain over their rivals – now fifth overall in terms of overall table standings.

Match 8

CSK may no longer be in contention for playoff qualification, but will still hope to secure a victory here, especially considering it could be MS Dhoni’s final IPL match. AI predicts this match as being one with high scoring.

The Royals beat CSK in Delhi back in 2025 and will aim to do it again on Tuesday. With just one change to their team and Yudhvir Singh expected to perform strongly among his bowlers, the Royals hope they can keep up their momentum against CSK.

RR have had difficulty in their last three innings when chasing, which may not have been helped by this difficult pitch. Madhwal has used reverse swing effectively with yorkers and low full tosses. Dewald Brevis successfully defended short balls before losing out to straight ones from Madhwal. RR currently trail by 53 runs off 33 overs with only 188 required to secure victory.
