Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Delhi Capitals (DC)
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will engage in an electric clash at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Saturday in what could be a game-defining match-up this season.
Both sides have found themselves hovering near playoff-zone contention, so any win for either will make it increasingly difficult for other teams to dislodge them from their position – likely making for an explosive encounter full of fireworks and high scoring encounters!
Given their history of rivalry and their history with each team in this rivalry match-up it seems certain to make for an action-packed encounter!
PBKS will look to outshone Gujarat Titans (GT) and secure a top-two finish after four teams had already qualified in Qualifier 1. A win against DC would give them more of a chance of making the final should they lose to Gujarat in leg one.
Since the start of league play, the home side have maintained an impressively consistent level of performance and have found good form with their fans.
Shikhar Dhawan’s return to form and Liam Livingstone’s consistency have made a notable impact, adding impactful performances by young players like Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya for an effective balance on their side.
DC will look to rebound after their hopes of finishing in the top-four were dashed by Mumbai Indians in an elimination game last week. Without captain Rishabh Pant on this night’s pitch will be felt greatly; nevertheless they still boast quality players on board.
Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have come out swinging and could help make this match an entertaining spectacle.

IPL 2025 match abandoned
Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2025 match has been cancelled amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Originally scheduled to take place on Sunday in Dharamshala, but due to fears that disruption might arise from border tension, BCCI moved it to Ahmedabad on Thursday due to concerns that air travel to and from Dharamshala could also be compromised by conflict.
Senior BCCI officials including Ramachandran Saikia and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal made the decision to cancel Friday afternoon’s match, in light of both current political developments in India as well as security and player safety concerns.
Team owners were informed by phone before it was made public on Friday afternoon. This decision was taken due to concerns over player safety and security.
Punjab and Delhi fans took to Twitter shortly after the match was abandoned to express their displeasure with its cancellation, with some even suggesting a boycott of the tournament, while others highlighted its importance for supporting Indian armed forces. Many also voiced concerns regarding cricket in this region given current circumstances.
There have been reports that the Indian Premier League may be called off indefinitely due to worsening relations between India and Pakistan.
The IPL provides significant revenue to both countries and is one of the most beloved sports events in India; home to world-renowned cricketers such as Virat Kohli and Harshvardhan Rane among many others.
The IPL (Indian Premier League), is a professional Twenty20 cricket competition featuring 10 teams. Beginning on 22 March and played across 13 venues before it was suspended due to India-Pakistan tensions on April 16, matches will resume May 17 at six venues with final match scheduled for June 3.
As with previous editions, round-robin competition is used this year and all 10 teams from last season remain participating as well as 10 English players like Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Tom Curran James Vince Sam Billings Jos Buttler Jacob Bethell Liam Livingstone Reece Topley among many others.
PBKS vs DC match rescheduled
Due to increasing tensions on the India-Pakistan border, an IPL match between PBKS and DC was cut short after only 10.1 overs due to dimmed floodlights and security forces evacuating spectators amid air raid alerts in certain regions across India.
Wankhede Stadium saw DC come back into the match and dominate in the final phase, eventually winning by four wickets with Sameer Rizvi making an outstanding half-century to help DC defeat Punjab.
Even after losing Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Ravindra Jadeja to injuries in the first innings, DC were always in control of proceedings. Going into the last over, DC had amassed an impressive lead of 142 runs and were gunning for a six-wicket victory to seal victory and claim first place on their respective tables.
However, they suffered two wickets in the final over from an uncertain start. Vipraj Nigam took two quick wickets in quick succession off opener Priyansh Arya with the opening ball of the final over and then Josh Inglis with successive balls before both batsmen were caught by wicketkeeper Tristan Stubbs; leaving DC needing 34 from 18 balls remaining to secure victory.
That was when Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi took control of the chase for DC. Nair struck four boundaries in the 18th over, which kept up momentum, before smashing Arshdeep Singh for six to complete his fifty. Rizvi then sealed an impressive win for DC by striking an emphatic blow of his own to secure an emphatic win for DC.
DC was assured of finishing seventh, becoming one of two teams to qualify for playoffs with this win. For PBKS, their season will end with 15 points from 11 games; hopefully making this campaign one they remember fondly when competition resumes in 2025! PBKS’ final match before that begins will be against Mumbai Indians before tournament kicks back off again next season.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) will play Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2025’s 58th match, set to provide fans with an intensely passionate match at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. As these two sides battle it out for vital points that could propel them toward playoff contention, Punjab Kings have come into this match on good form; having won seven out of eleven matches so far and their strong top-order led by Prabhsimran Singh and Shreyas Iyer as well as bowling attack of Nathan Ellis and Kagiso Rabada has proven formidable.
DC, on the other hand, have struggled in recent performances and need a win against PBKS to give themselves any hope of qualifying for playoffs. A victory would give DC a much-needed boost against time.
PBKS have recently defeated Lucknow Super Giants and are in an advantageous position to reach the final. A win would put them into second spot on the points table and would open up an opportunity to make playoffs if they continue winning their remaining fixtures.
A loss, on the other hand, would end their hopes and they’d need other teams losing in order to advance further in their campaign. Meanwhile DC want their season to end on a positive note and beating PBKS can ensure they avoid facing potential relegation next season.
