Mumbai Indians Vs Delhi Capitals Match Scorecard

Mumbai Indians found their stride in 2020. Led by captain Rohit Sharma and assisted by Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga’s bowling, MI were dominant during league stage play, ultimately reaching the final.

KKR kept losing wickets at regular intervals and lost by 43 runs. Here we will discuss the main points of Mumbai Indians Vs Delhi Capitals Match Scorecard 2024.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya hits hard but misses his target with an outside off full ball, then hits short and middle pitches directly to third man for singles as the over winds down. A few more singles follow as Pandya completes another successful over.

Bumrah bowls the final over of the powerplay, giving JFM two doubles to keep his run rate high and then cramping him with slow balls – only yielding four runs from lofted drives he attempted by JFM.

Four for Mumbai openers. Pandya smashes another length ball straight back over long on for six, taking full control of MI’s innings with his epic strike.

Still he had one more shot he needed to take, which ended in him getting out lbw off an outside off full toss outside off. Looking to slam it over covers but instead getting an inside edge that flew past short third man for a boundary. After this attempt he attempted a reverse-sweep but his bat missed and he was out.

Delhi have seen their fortunes improve after an underwhelming start, now sitting fourth on the points table. Much credit must go to their top order who have all been stellar: Tilak Varma made an unbeaten 63 off 32 balls while Hardik Pandya scored unbeaten 46 off 24 balls and Tim David scored 37-ball 84 off 37 deliveries – these performances alone could make this team formidable come playoff time! They now face Chennai Super Kings at home on Thursday.

Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma has had an outstanding IPL season for Mumbai Indians. The youngster has shown great promise both batting and bowling, and hopes to expand into an all-rounder role moving forward. We can expect many more surprises from Tilak this season!

He is an immensely gifted player who has shown his batting prowess before. Recently though, his bowling economy rate has been underperforming and this game against Delhi Capitals provides the ideal opportunity to do just that.

Varma, born and raised in Telangana’s rural villages, has made significant strides since his childhood days. Due to his outstanding batting ability he made the first-class list and became part of India Under-19 squad as well.

Mumbai Indians youngster has scored over 1,000 runs in IPL – becoming only the third youngest player ever to do so! Additionally, his team reached the finals of 2020 Under-19 World Cup held in South Africa as well.

Tilak Varma made an encouraging start but fell victim to a run-out in the 13th over. While trying to hit a length ball towards backward square leg but could not connect properly. Subsequently he was dismissed by Mukesh Kumar off Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling; Mukesh’s third wicket made up three for 21 with 17 runs conceded in this over. Tim David then came in to bat for MI.

Shai Hope

After an inauspicious start to their campaign, Delhi Capitals have managed to reverse their fortunes. Now sixth in the points table and with a good shot at reaching playoffs. Their hopes rest with Rishabh Pant, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs performing.

But they face a massive task ahead. Their match against MI will be decisive; should they lose, their chances of making the play-offs could become far less likely.

Nabi bowled the second over, starting off with a full toss that Ishan Kishan sent flying for six. He followed it up by hitting another four ball for another boundary; Ishan had now scored an 84 off 45 balls.

Next ball was slower. It flies to the leg side and was pulled over square leg to maximize runs scored by MI. A few more runs and MI will be back in business!

Mukesh Kumar will bowl the final over of this game against DC. His record against them this season has been impressive, containing Hardik Pandya and Nehal Wadhera to stop batsmen getting away with runs.

The last over is both teams’ final chance to make a comeback, and neither have disappointed. JFM goes for a big shot but loses control of his lofted shot which is caught by SKY at midwicket.

Tristan Stubbs

Stubbs hails from Gqeberha in Eastern Province and is well known for his fearless approach to hitting big runs. He was named top run-scorer during domestic one-day competition 2022-23, prompting predictions for bigger roles; making his ODI debut against Ireland in June 2024 but ultimately being left out of South Africa’s World Cup squad in May 2025 due to inactivity.

Since joining Western Province in 2024-23 season, he has made his mark both long format (he was second highest run-scorer for them during that season) and T20Is for South Africa during that timeframe.

Left-hander Shaw has amassed 17 fours and sixes from nine innings this season and looks poised to continue his impressive form against Mumbai Indians. His batsmen can provide him with ample support in making an enormous score for Delhi Capitals.

Stubbs hit Rasikh for a half-volley into the long-on boundary for an immediate six. However, his next ball missed due to a fielder in deep.

Luke Wood delivered a short ball to start the over. Porel attempted to hit it over midwicket but instead it hit his knees instead despite reviewing. That ball ultimately went undetected as dot ball.

Wood sends in a short ball from Wood and Pant immediately employs his slog sweep, steering it towards the rope for him to complete his century after 48 balls – leaving them still needing 41 runs from 12 balls!

Jake Fraser-McGurk

Jake Fraser-McGurk is one of Australia’s premier batting talents and could soon represent them at the T20 World Cup. Since making his domestic debut as a 17-year-old with Victoria in 2019, scoring fifties on both his first-class and List A debuts, before qualifying for Under-19 World Cup tournament.

Fraser-McGurk made waves in the BBL for Melbourne Renegades in 2022/23, finishing third-highest run-scorer overall and scoring three half-centuries at No 3. His breakthrough came when South Australia recruited him as part of their ILT20 squad in February 2024; having initially been identified as a talented discard, South Australia offered him to Dubai Capitals (another franchise of Delhi Capitals). Fraser-McGurk never saw this coming.

Fraser-McGurk’s aggressive yet elegant hitting quickly earned him instantaneous recognition, an immediate place in the team and an ardent fan base – but it was Ricky Ponting who sent out a text message which set Fraser-McGurk on his journey toward international stardom.

“Jake, you’re doing well but need to focus on developing your game outside the powerplay. A simple tweak helped him go from being an aggressive big-hitter into more of an all-around player by reading pace of ball better and tempering his aggression after powerplay as well as developing an understanding of when and how often singles and doubles were available for him to play.”

Debutant Virat Kohli continued his impressive form in the IPL, becoming Delhi’s star performer with devastating batting that has won fans and critics over alike. On Sunday when Unicorns play Los Angeles Knight Riders for their opening MCLA campaign game.
