Batsmen continue their assault on Zimbabwean bowlers. Washington Sundar is back into action and gives up four runs in his opening over, which Madhevere punished with an incredible four towards extra cover.
Mukesh Kumar could have had an early wicket, but his bouncer skidded onto Sikandar Raza as he attempted to hook. In this article, we will discus about Zimbabwe National Cricket Team Vs India National Cricket Team Match Scorecard.
Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is an emerging Indian cricketer who has made an impressionful mark through his performances in T20Is. He helped India win the ICC World Cup 2022 in New Zealand and now forms part of their regular squad; additionally he became India’s youngest ever batsman to score an ODI century!
He was unbeaten on 88 off 46 balls as India posted 213/6 against Zimbabwe, marking him out as a promising young batsman who has only featured in five T20Is so far for India but already showed plenty of promise during last year’s series against Bangladesh.
India are expected to feature in several matches against Zimbabwe in order to prepare for their forthcoming tournaments and Asia Games, where this youngster is likely to play an integral part. He may even appear in one or two one-day internationals against them!
Zimbabwe still looked confident despite Mukesh’s early wicket, reaching 15/2 by the third over thanks to Sikandar Raza and No. 4 Dion Myers (34) hitting hard together and amassing 61 runs in just three overs.
Young Indian cricketers were ultimately bundled out for 125. Blessing Muzarabani came in to bowl, giving away just six runs in his first over. Shivam Dube soon replaced him, giving away just two runs himself before Abhishek Sharma gave away only one single.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
Gaikwad has been performing impressively on the domestic circuit. After being included in India’s squad for their recent T20 series against Zimbabwe, however, he was abruptly dropped after just two games and this has caused significant debate among fans of Indian cricket who feel Gaikwad should have retained his spot in their side.
Mukesh Kumar bowls his opening over and concedes a FOUR to Wessly Madhevere for four runs to bring Zimbabwe up to 85/2 after just 2.2 overs. Mukesh then gets Dion Myers out in his next over to put Zimbabwe at 93/3 and in trouble on their home field.
Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson held their innings together with a 65-run partnership, enabling the Men in Blue to reach 167/7 after 20 overs and seal the series victory for Shubman Gill – his inaugural T20I series triumph as captain!
Indian bowlers made an immediate impact after the powerplay ended, with both spinners picking up wickets in both innings. Washington struck in his second over, bowling Marumani leg-before trying to slog across the line; Dube then struck twice against Ngarava during his 12-ball cameo of 26 to completely alter the outcome of this contest.
Zimbabwe, after initially struggling early on, rallied after lunch when skipper Brendan Taylor struck an unbeaten 75 from 51 deliveries to keep Zimbabwe competitive for a competitive total. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe however, in the final over Taylor was run out after confusion between Sikandar Raza and Ngarava, and India eventually bowled them out for just 125 and won by 42 runs to seal victory and complete their sweep of this five-match series 3-0; before heading into their T20I match with Ireland at Mumbai next Friday.
Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma made a strong first T20I impression against Zimbabwe in their opening T20I match of this five-match series, turning around his terrible start by smashing an impressive century off 47 balls to help India retake control after they had been upended by Wellington Masakadza’s 100 in their opener. India went on to thrash Zimbabwe convincingly.
India quickly established themselves in the match by bowling with pace and spin to score an astounding 74 runs in their first four overs, adding them up for an impressive score. Their bowlers then promptly struck back by taking six wickets without reply, including Vusi Sibanda who was run out for duck while Brendan Taylor, fresh off two centuries scored earlier, was dismissed for 75. Zimbabwe crumbled under India’s relentless onslaught as their top order collapsed; Vusi Sibanda fell for just 11 runs while Brendan Taylor scored 75 which put India well ahead in terms of total runs scored before it all started in their last overs!
Mukesh Kumar had another opportunity to add to his tally, but overstepped and cost Tadiwanashe Marumani his wicket. Soon thereafter wristspinner Ravi Bishnoi took control of proceedings as Zimbabwe struggled due to an exodus of quality players from domestic cricket as well.
Shivam Dube bowls his fourth over of Zimbabwean batters who seem reluctant to hit boundaries; taking only singles and dot balls so far. But Akram finally gets lucky, hitting one for four! Sanju Samson attempts to catch one run-out ball but misses it, increasing India’s lead to 128 runs.
Richard Ngarava

Current form may not be promising, but young players have the ability to significantly improve. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have performed admirably while bowlers Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed hope to secure their places. Furthermore, youngsters such as Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag will look to make an impressionful mark.
India’s batsmen dominated Game Two of their three-match series against Zimbabwe, but India’s bowlers struggled to contain Zimbabwe’s batsmen. Blessing Muzarabani and Sikandar Raza both took wickets but their efforts proved futile; Zimbabwean batsmen failed to score big runs allowing the visitors to establish an advantage.
Zimbabwe fielders committed a crucial fumble early in the fourth match, which allowed Indian batsmen to capitalize on it to score consecutive runs from Tushar Deshpande’s short ball for six by Shubman Gill off Tushar Deshpande’s short delivery, followed by Clive Madande’s smart lofted shot for four off Deshpande. Unfortunately for Zimbabwe though, their attempts at reaching 300 now look impossible, leaving them 152/9 as Zimbabwe chase an impossible total of over 300.
Washington Sundar
After losing their initial three ODIs of this series, many didn’t give Zimbabwe much hope of winning this match. Yet they managed to chase 322 runs in 50 overs for Zimbabwe’s highest successful run-chase ever in an ODI match, giving their confidence a huge boost ahead of touring Australia later.

Mukesh Kumar bowls a no-ball that hits Marumani on his pads but he chooses not to pursue review; therefore, the umpire rules it not out.
Washington Sundar strikes again. He bowls a short delivery that hits the batsman on his pads before hitting him with an aggressive straight delivery that hits outside leg stump and gives out as LBW but reviews demonstrate otherwise.
Brandon Mavuta enters the crease and quickly hits several fours before getting out trying for sixes. Sundar strikes again – this time using off-breaks effectively against Mavuta who also won Player of the Series award against Zimbabwe earlier in this series.
