Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants 2025 IPL Match

Punjab Kings (PBKS) rose to second on the points table following an emphatic win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. PBKS scored 236/5 with an incredible batting performance to win by 37 runs to keep their playoff hopes alive – highlighted by Prabhsimran Singh’s stunning 91 and Shreyas Iyer’s outstanding all-round performance.

LSG were dealt a crippling blow when their top three batsmen fell cheaply to Arshdeep Singh in one over. This marked the first time all three of their batsmen fell within one over and this necessitated an agonising chase from there on in.

Mayank Yadav proved especially costly as he conceded 60 in four overs for LSG – one of their joint worst totals from this season’s IPL tournament! Both Avesh Khan and Digvesh Rathi struggled against new ball bowlers too.

Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad provided much-needed resistance at the other end, yet that alone wasn’t enough to give their team any chance of victory. At half time they remained unbeaten but the target of 199 always proved unreachable.

PBKS had an outstanding start to their innings and achieved 66/0 within four powerplay overs, thanks to some brilliant batting from Priyansh Arya, Nehal Wadhera and Shahbaz Nadeem who all contributed with runs. Mayank Yadav was their sole disappointment; Josh Inglis and Prabhsimran Singh hit him for two sixes and fours off him to keep their scoreboard ticking over nicely.

In the next over, Ayush Badoni hit Marcus Stoinis for six and four, but that was not enough to restore their innings. Furthermore, Abdul Samad and Ayush Badoni failed to add any runs for their team during this last over.

An impressive opening partnership of 88 between Ayush Badoni and Rohit Sharma set the hosts off on the right path early. Rohit’s brilliant innings included 13 fours and one six.

Badoni was fantastic as well, reaching his fifty off 33 balls thanks to an Ayush Badoni six in the penultimate over. This outstanding innings from the youngster put him firmly into contention for IPL 2025’s Player of the Month Award.

He is now averaging nearly 90 over his last three matches and will look to maintain this impressive run when facing off against RCB in their final encounter of this season; these two sides have played each other five times this year with each side winning once and suffering one loss each.

Both teams will look to enhance their batting performances in the forthcoming games. On Tuesday, both sides will take to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium where a slow scoring wicket may favour spinners.

Punjab Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants 2025 Match Prediction

IPL teams are in a tense period right now, with their fortunes in the balance. Punjab Kings led by Shreyas Iyer are fourth with 13 points; Rishabh Pant’s LSG are sixth on 10 and need one win to secure playoff qualification – these two sides will square off against one another on Sunday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

PBKS is coming off of an impressive four-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings and will look to continue building upon it.

They also wish to record their inaugural away victory of IPL 2025, which would put them in an advantageous position heading into the final phase of games.

LSG are keen to recover after suffering consecutive losses, and require strong performances from Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram in order to avoid the relegation battle.

Unfortunately their top order has been inconsistent; no batsman has managed a half century score in their last ten T20 innings.

However, if they can get their bowlers to contain PBKS’s top-order, they could make an unexpected run at making the playoffs.

Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad and Matthew Breetzke will need to be at their best in supporting Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad and Matthew Breetzke and pacer Mayank Yadav is expected to have an impactful presence as well.

The match will take place on a green pitch designed to aid fast bowlers. However, cloudy skies are expected to prevail with 70% rain forecast by 2 PM before 7 PM’s toss is scheduled; this could impede both pre-match preparations as well as pitch conditions on game day.

The pitch has proven itself capable of offering good bounce and carry to both teams, yet has historically favoured spinners.

Therefore, both captains will seek to play an attacking game to take advantage of conditions to their advantage. As has been the case in previous IPL matches played here – teams that bat first have won eight out of 13 matches with an average first innings score of 184! However, depending on weather conditions this could change.
