Oklahoma finally found their footing after an uncharacteristically slow first quarter when quarterback Ty Simpson connected with wide receiver Xavier Robinson on a 35-yard touchdown pass to give them a 17-7 advantage early in the second quarter. Alabama then responded with their own scoring drive that ended in running back Daniel Hill scoring on one-yard run touchdown play to pull even.

Alabama’s defense was successful again, stopping Oklahoma and scoring another touchdown during OU’s drive, when Alabama defensive end Zabien Brown returned a fumble from Taylor Wein’s sack for 50-yard score. Kicker Tate Sandell would respond by making two field goals:
first one was from 25-yards; later in the fourth quarter he tied an FBS single-season record by making another 51-yard field goal that Deion Burks caught both times, giving him two catches totalling 107 yards total 107 yardage! Deion Burks scored three touchdowns this year alone!

At 6-2 and 223 pounds, junior is an outstanding deep threat with great speed that allows him to create separation for himself; additionally he’s an adept route runner that can extend plays across the field.
Sategna has used his speed to run some deep patterns on offense, which have been invaluable assets to the Sooners this season. Additionally, he can serve as an invaluable safety valve in the red zone while making difficult catches look easy.
Sooners got off to an impressive start against Crimson Tide, outgaining them 118 yards to 12 in the first quarter. John Mateer then connected with Isaiah Sategna on a seven-yard touchdown pass that put Oklahoma up 17-0 before special teams miscues allowed Alabama back in game.
Tate Sandell of Ohio University made 24 straight field goals until his 36-yard miss with 2:53 remaining, ending his streak and jeopardizing their blowout win. Later in the fourth quarter he would miss another field goal before an extra point kick proved costly in their loss to Florida Atlantic University.
Oklahoma could have called timeout and sent Sandell out for a long field-goal attempt with the stiff wind at their backs, but coach Brent Venables instead opted for a short field goal try from Sandell that fell short – Alabama eventually managed to take home victory and advance to face No.1 Indiana in the Rose Bowl on Jan 1.
