Green has been instrumental in Australia’s march towards victory in the Australian Men’s Cricket Team Vs South Africa National Cricket Team Match Scorecard, hitting over one run per ball at an increasing required rate and trying to build his innings.
Brevis has successfully appealed a half-stumping appeal and cannot time a cut to keep out a single off the next delivery.

Australia vs South Africa
South Africa have won their inaugural ODI in Darwin convincingly, thanks to Keshav Maharaj’s five-wicket haul to turn around their fortunes on this pitch and Prenelan Subrayen making his ODI debut.
Australia started strong before Maharaj took control and reduced them from 60-0 to 89/6 before Marsh tried leading an unsuccessful fightback effort and South Africa prevailed by 98 runs.
Kagiso Rabada was forced out of the remaining ODIs in Darwin due to an ankle injury, being replaced by Kwena Maphaka in the squad.

1st ODI
One Day Internationals (ODIs) are fifty-over matches played between teams with international status. Each team bats and fields once, with innings lasting a maximum of 50 overs. ODIs are major events; winners qualify for the World Cup held every four years.
These matches feature colourful uniforms, white balls and floodlighting; with multiple camera angles available as well as effects microphones to capture sounds from the field and on-screen graphics – the inaugural ODI was played on 17 January 1979 at VFL Park in Melbourne Australia
Both teams enjoyed a high-scoring match and recorded impressive totals. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first, starting off well with Quinton de Kock scoring an impressive 53 off 41 balls before being caught by Virat Kohli at midoff by Virat Kohli. Temba Bavuma then combined for 95 runs with Faf du Plessis before Prasidh Krishna bowled him out.
After India’s slow start, their middle order batsmen fought back strongly. Harshit Rana struck an effective blow against Quinton de Kock with one shot that hit his edge before targeting him with short deliveries for several more hits – helping De Kock reach his century off only 88 balls with assistance from AB de Villiers and Breetzke.
At 54, Brevis was dropped but made the most of his reprieve, hitting two sixes and four fours in an explosive 47-ball hundred to help pave the way for South Africa’s successful run-chase, and later shared an outstanding 92-run stand with Bavuma to gain control. Unfortunately for South Africa however, Brevis fell foul to Basil D’Oliveira’s slower offcutter to be bowled for just 82.
2nd ODI
The One Day International (ODI) is a limited overs format of cricket that takes place between two international teams, each taking turns batting and bowling overs for a fixed period.
The competition represents the pinnacle of international limited overs cricket competition; and is most crucially used as selection criteria for national team selection.
Globally popular since its introduction during Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket competition of 1970s, over 7 million tickets were sold each time an ODI match took place worldwide in 2025.
ODI cricket is overseen by the International Cricket Council, who govern its rules and schedule. Each ODI match lasts fifty overs, lasting for up to seven hours in length. Additionally, this format is utilized at every four year World Cup that attracts teams from across the world.
India won the opening ODI of this series by three wickets at Ranchi and will look to secure victory by maximising their new ball opportunities during the afternoon session, before batting through any dew-inspired conditions in Raipur.
Aiden Markram of South Africa notched his maiden one-day international century, while fellow openers Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis both contributed half centuries as they chased 349 runs to win. Dew helped their cause; however, India were always in control.
Kagiso Rabada will miss the rest of this ODI series after suffering ankle ligament damage during his fall during Ranchi’s opening innings on Sunday. However, he hopes to return for November’s T20I series.
3rd ODI
Australia have won six of their past seven ODIs at the SCG and appear poised to clinch a series win. Australia have gone unbeaten in their last 12 matches at this venue – including two victories over India this series – though India may hope for a consolation victory in their final ODI match-up.
Cameron Green will look to secure his second One-Day International century, while Cooper Connolly hopes to secure his maiden five-wicket haul. Both players shared a 115-run partnership in Australia’s impressive innings victory against South Africa in the first ODI and are in good form with their bat. Both will look forward to taking advantage of an easier opponent and score big against it.
The match will mark the first ever to take place in a full capacity stadium, with fans flocking to Cazalys Stadium for an exhilarating cricket experience.
As an ODI is a shorter form of the game with limited overs available per team, more wickets may fall and increase in intensity and scoring than in traditional forms of cricket – creating an intense and high scoring matchup!
Both teams have made several adjustments to their squads for the third ODI, with Mitchell Owen (back injury), Lance Morris (ankle injury) and Matthew Short (side injury) all unavailable for selection.
Aaron Hardie has been brought back into the side as a replacement for Short, while spinners Matthew Kuhnemann and Alex Carey have been recalled following their performances in Adelaide.
Xavier Bartlett could also make his return, having taken two crucial wickets of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli during the second ODI. He has an average of over 20 with his ball and remains an invaluable member of the Proteas team.
4th ODI
Ashton Turner struck an incredible 84 off 43 balls while Peter Handscomb scored an equally spectacular 117 to guide Australia to an emphatic 359-6 in 47.5 overs at Mohali. Dewald Brevis and Prenelan Subrayen both made their ODI debuts for South Africa.
Cameron Green’s 47-ball century marked Australia’s second fastest in One Day Internationals and helped them defeat South Africa by 276 runs at Cazalys Stadium – their biggest-ever run-chase defeat ever in an ODI matchup.
Australia was forced to make two adjustments to their batting line-up when Mitchell Owen (concussion) and Matthew Short (side injury) were both ruled out, bringing in Alex Carey and Aaron Hardie as replacements; both players making their ODI debuts in the Australian Men’s Cricket Team Vs South Africa National Cricket Team Match Scorecard. Kwena Maphaka also joined South Africa’s squad for this series.
