Tests

Starting on May 8 and 16, Bangladesh and Pakistan will compete in a two-Test series at Mirpur Stadium and Sylhet Oval beginning at 10:00 local time – equivalent to 4:00 AM GMT/9:30 AM IST.

Bangladesh will hope to build on their strong 2-0 victory from their previous Test series, while Pakistan look to recover from recent poor performances.

Bangladesh can trace its earliest recorded instances of organized cricket back to the 18th and 19th centuries when part of unified Bengal under British control.

However, its eastern section – modern-day Bangladesh – first held tournaments under this name only during the 1950s under East Pakistan rule.

Since then, this sport has flourished across Bangladesh with millions of fans turning out for each international match!

Bangladesh played their inaugural ODI match in 1999 and have made steady improvements over time in this format.

They reached the final of 2014 ICC World Cup where they lost to South Africa; then in 2016 hosted its inaugural Mini-World Cup which featured all test playing nations; it was an enormous success and garnered much praise for Bangladesh Cricket Board’s efforts in organizing it.

In the 2010s, Bangladesh improved under various coaches including Jamie Siddons and Shane Jurgensen; players such as Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Imran Khan and Tamim Ali assumed leadership positions.

Over-one-day internationals became a force within ODI cricket before translating that momentum to Test cricket where their performance has dramatically increased in recent times.

Bangladesh A’s 2011 tour to Zimbabwe comprised three first-class and five List A matches against Zimbabwe A, with one first-class fixture rained off due to rain. Mohammad Ashraful captained his side, featuring several Test experience players like Mohaiemen Ashraful.

Following that tour, in November the same year Bangladesh A visited Antigua and Saint Vincent where they competed against West Indies A in two first-class and four List A fixtures against West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent against West Indies A in two first-class and four List A matches against West Indies A against West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent against West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent against West Indies A in two first-class and four List A games against West Indies A before travelling back out in November that same year to West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent playing two first-class and four List matches against West Indies A against West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent before moving onto West Indies A matches against West Indies A in Antigua and Saint Vincent against West Indies A in November 2013.

ODIs

Bangladesh will now look forward to playing Pakistan in three T20Is for the first time since 2024 in T20Is.

Bangladesh stunned Pakistan in its inaugural ODI with Nahid Rana taking five wickets as hosts Bangladesh cruised to victory.

Mushfiqur Rahim scored 137 runs while Mahmudul Hasan Joy (52) and Litton Das (69) also made contributions for their side. In response, Pakistan were reduced to 114 for five when Tanzid Hasan made a six-ball duck before ultimately falling.

Mohammad Rizwan put up a valiant effort with an unbeaten 94 but was eventually bowled by Taijul Islam to allow Bangladesh to win and seal the series victory at Sylhet.

It marked their first Test series win on home soil against Pakistan since their 2-0 success back in 2024 and their fourth in five ODI matches against them since 2024 (seven wins, 10 losses and seven draws in 42 total ODI matches played against them).

T20Is

Starting July 20, Pakistan and Bangladesh will engage in a three-match T20I series at Mirpur as part of Pakistan’s tour to Bangladesh which also comprises two Tests and one ODI match.

Both sides have previously battled each other in T20Is; thus both will look to dominate this new format as well. The opening match will take place at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Mirpur.

Bangladesh will hope a strong performance at the third T20I will seal their win of this series, while Pakistan is trying to take one win from these matches but face stiff opposition as Bangladesh have been on an impressive winning streak recently.

Pakistani batsmen must step up and show some consistency if they want their side to triumph this matchup.

Bangladesh secured their victory in an exciting T20I, beating Pakistan with one final ball to spare. Jaker Ali led their efforts with 78 runs off 53 balls before being dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman’s delivery – giving their side hope with fours in both balls of the final over.

Bangladesh won the second T20I thanks to excellent bowling from Shoriful Islam, Mahedi Hasan and Tanzim Hasan who took three wickets each to help hold Pakistan to just 233 all out.

Rain forced the cancellation of their third T20I encounter, but they will meet back up again for a five-match series in UAE later in 2019.

Both teams have enjoyed strong T20I performances so far and hope to maintain that form throughout this series and into next year.

It’s key that both teams secure one of four spots at the ICC World T20 tournament; that will qualify them for qualifying for Australia and New Zealand T20 World Cup 20/20 tournament qualification.

T20I Series

Bangladesh battled back from an initially difficult start and established themselves in a strong position with some fine individual performances by Mushfiqur Rahim (137 runs) and Litton Das (126). These efforts enabled Bangladesh to build up an initial advantage of 177 runs which they eventually overturned with relative ease.

The second match, held on 10 May, was another low-scoring affair that resulted in Bangladesh winning by an 8 wicket margin to level the series at 1-1. Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam once more excelled, taking five wickets for Bangladesh in their 78-run win against Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan’s valiant efforts, but ultimately that wasn’t enough;

Taijul then quickly removed three batsmen before closing out an historic series win with quick dismissals of three remaining batters by taking five wickets quickly followed by his three bowlers to secure victory in record time!

Bangladesh bowlers were in excellent form to restrict Pakistan to just 243 runs in their first innings. Ghazi Ghori and Saad Masood both made their ODI debuts while Bangladesh opener Nahid Rana shined with six fours and one six to help power his side to an easy win.

On 13 May in Sylhet, Bangladesh will play its third and final Test before hosting its debut ICC Cricket World Cup 2026 tournament. For the first time ever, Bangladesh will host an internationally ranked Test series against one another – plus they’ll play three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) prior to that event.

This series is an important part of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team Vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Match Scorecard, highlighting one of the most anticipated cricket rivalries and match records between the two teams, featuring detailed performances, results, and player statistics across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
