The International Cricket Council has revealed the full schedule for the 2023 women’s U19 cricket world cup. It includes 41 matches spread out across 15 days.

India are strong contenders to retain their crown, being placed alongside host Malaysia, Sri Lanka and West Indies in Group A. Meanwhile England, Pakistan, Ireland and Samoa make up Group B. In this article, we will discuss the main point of ICC Women’s U19 Cricket World Cup 2023 Schedule.

Group A

Starting on January 14, 2023 in South Africa, the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 World Cup will commence with Australia taking on Bangladesh in South Africa. Over its two-week duration, there will be 41 matches between Australia and Bangladesh in total; comprising group stage, Super Six, semi-finals, defending champion India will compete alongside West Indies, Sri Lanka and host Malaysia for this prestigious title; Group B offers exciting contests between England v Pakistan alongside Rwanda and Zimbabwe and Group C features New Zealand against Indonesia head-to-head against each other – don’t miss it if it opens on January 14, 2023!

The initial phase of the tournament will feature a single round-robin phase with each team playing three games in its group. The top-three teams from each group will then advance to the Super Six stage; those in Group A will all be placed together while those from Groups B and C have been separated into their individual sub-groups.

India are looking strong to take home the inaugural trophy of this event based on recent performances. Led by Shafali Verma and ranking fifth in ICC World Rankings, India are capable of challenging any team on any given day; and have an outstanding 5-0 win-loss record against South African Proteas teams in previous encounters.

India have been drawn in a difficult group, along with West Indies, Sri Lanka, and hosts Malaysia. India will face some tough fixtures during group play but will aim to advance past them and reach the semifinals by January 31. If they make it that far then a semifinal is scheduled for February 2, with the final scheduled for February 2.

Geetika Kodali will lead a 15-player USA squad into battle against Australia Women’s U19 side led by experienced captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Geetika Kodali – both are former Test players themselves!

Group B

At the inaugural ICC Women’s U19 World Cup 2023, 16 teams will vie to claim victory and become world champion. Held in South Africa from 14 January to 29 January 2023, matches will take place across four venues located in Benoni and Potchefstroom: Willowmoore Park B, North-West University Oval and Senwes Park – featuring 11 ICC full-member nations automatically qualifying and five associate nations fighting it out for four final positions.

This tournament will begin with a round-robin group stage, in which each team plays three matches against one another. The top two sides from each group will move forward to the Super Six stage; 12 sides in total will then be split up according to group stage finishing position into 12 groups and each playing all other sides twice; last-place sides from each group will compete against one another on January 24 in a last-place play-off matchup.

India, West Indies, Sri Lanka and hosts Malaysia have been drawn together in Group A; England, Pakistan and Ireland form Group B while rivals South Africa Scotland UAE form Group D.

Star Sports will broadcast all matches live in India. Fans can stream the action online using FanCode, available for download from both Apple App Store and Google Play Store in India.

Malaysia will play host for the inaugural competition of this league tournament, after Thailand withdrew as co-host. There will be 41 matches scheduled between League Phase, Super Six stage, semifinals and the final match. In addition, reserve days have been set aside on February 1 for semifinals and February 2 as reserves dates for all knockout fixtures.

Group C

The inaugural ICC Women’s Under-19 World Cup 2023 will take place from 14th – 29th January in South Africa, featuring 16 teams. 41 matches are scheduled between 14th – 29th January with Super Six round starting on 27th and Semi finals on 29th. Finals will take place at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom for this first ever women’s U19 T20 World Cup competition.

The tournament had initially been scheduled to take place in 2021; however, due to COVID-19 pandemic delays it will now take place between September 2019 and October 2019. It will feature four groups of four teams competing, with the top three from each advancing to a Super Six stage, before competing head-to-head in single elimination format to determine who ultimately triumphs as champion.

India’s victory in the inaugural Women’s U19 World Cup will long remain one of the defining moments in women’s cricket. India displayed remarkable skills and composure to limit England to just 68 runs before easily surpassing that target with ease, featuring Gongadi Trisha (24) and Soumya Tiwari (24) as top scorers en route to an outstanding seven-wicket victory win.

This year, the International Cricket Council has organized its inaugural Women’s U19 T20 Asia Cup tournament in Malaysia as an international platform for young female cricketers from Asia. Additionally, this competition will serve as a preparatory ground for every edition of ICC Women’s U19 World Cup – its winner earning themselves an invite into 2025 Under-19 World Cup!

In the opening round, the United States will face Australia and Bangladesh. Led by Geetika Kodali and coached by Shivnarine Chanderpaul respectively, their squad consists of fifteen players.

On Saturday, 14 January the tournament will kick-off with two matches on Willowmoore Park B Field in Benoni; Australia versus Bangladesh (11:30 am IST), then South Africa against India (5:15 pm IST). Thereafter games will continue every day until it concludes on 23 January.

Group D

India will kick-off their Group A campaign alongside West Indies, Sri Lanka and Malaysia on January 19. The tournament is scheduled to run from 18 January to 2 February at various locations including Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur and UKM YSD Oval; 16 warm-up fixtures will also take place from 13-16 January.

At the Group League stage, teams will compete against one another in a round-robin format. The top three teams from each group will advance to Super Six round; those finishing fourth or lower in either Group A or B are combined into Group 1, while teams in Groups C & D compete against one another as Group 2. Winners from each Super Six group advance directly to semi-finals while runners-up compete for third place play-off spots.

Shafali Verma leads India’s Women in Blue into their defence of their inaugural title from 2023 against England, when they performed brilliantly to capture it with just seven overs remaining before winning in style. Gongadi Trisha and Soumya Tiwari stood out against England as India restricted them to just 68 runs before claiming victory with ease in seven overs.

Bangladesh will look to build on their impressive run in the previous edition. So far they have won both their matches against South Africa and UAE with ease, setting themselves up well to take on Pakistan in their next encounter.
