South African teams are widely respected for their power hitting and all-rounders, especially during 2007-2015 when they went undefeated in away Test series and were ranked number one worldwide.

Players such as AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis led by example; though dominant in Tests they struggled in ODIs and T20Is and often “choked” major tournaments.

Over the past several years, South Africa’s Proteas have made notable strides in limited-overs cricket. They have won two ICC Champions Trophies and reached four ODI World Cup semi-finals but are yet to claim one world championship title; something which fans have found frustrating.

The Proteas have entered this tour with plenty of momentum, and their players are looking forward to testing themselves against a strong Indian side. Predictions

India and South Africa’s match is expected to be a high-scoring affair, as both teams possessing potent batting lineups. India captain Gautam Gambhir should make his comeback into action following missing most of the tournament. He may choose Washington Sundar over Axar Patel who performed poorly against Bangladesh on Day One of this tournament.

India comes into this game armed with a powerful batting lineup and experienced bowling unit that have played an instrumental role in their unbeaten Super 8 run.

Their aggressive openers can stand up to any bowling attack while their middle order hitters have proven they can reach any target with ease. Their pace bowlers possess the potential to break back any opposition during powerplay phase while spinners control middle overs by denying runs through variation and miserly execution.

South Africa boasts an equally balanced batting and bowling lineup led by experienced match-winners like Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram, which enabled them to come out on top in Group D pool with four wins and an excellent 1.943 Net Run Rate (NRR). They easily chased down New Zealand before coming back against Afghanistan after trailing greatly before ultimately being narrowly defeated at home by UAE.

Both teams should field their strongest teams for this match, with captains likely opting to bat first due to dew factor considerations.

However, as the pitch at Darren Levine Athletic Centre may offer more bounce and pace for bowlers to exploit quickly, caution must be exercised on this surface to prevent quick wickets being conceded too easily.

South Africa has chosen a side with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi as its pace trio; each can pose serious threat to any batting lineup with their yorkers under pressure and quick pace. George Linde and Marco Jansen add left-arm pace/bounce balance while Keshav Maharaj provides crucial spin control for middle overs games.
