The South Africa National Cricket Team, known as The Proteas, has a distinguished history, boasting multiple Test wins as well as ODI success. One particular highlight was their triumph in the 1998 Champions Trophy, which remains an important milestone in South African cricket history.

When South African cricket first made its debut during a tour to England in 1907, it was far from its future selves. Led by C. Aubrey Smith – an inexperienced Sussex medium pacer who had only appeared twice at first class level – C Aubrey Smith led an underachieving side that featured Johnny Briggs, Albert Rose-Innes, batsmen William Taylor and Arthur Vogler; unfortunately though they lost both Test matches against England which caused lasting harm for young cricketers throughout South Africa.

South Africa was still very successful in limited-overs cricket despite this early setback, winning several major tournaments such as the 2024 T20 World Cup. Their success can largely be attributed to strong fast bowlers such as Shaun Pollock, Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada as well as powerful batsmen like Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla; their strong fast bowling was key.

2025 marks a new era for South African cricket as their national team now features 31 members playing from both domestic and international clubs. Their jersey is usually light green but may change for international tournaments to feature Dafabet’s logo on it; their trousers have darker green shades while even their cap matches this colour theme.

The South Africa National Cricket Team, known as The Proteas, have taken to wearing pink-coloured jerseys as part of a breast cancer awareness initiative. The team has enjoyed remarkable success while donning this uniform, winning 16 trophies since introducing it, including 11 major International Cricket Council tournaments.
