After Jamal Agnew botched the kickoff, the Falcons gained possession around their own 20. Penix attempted a sideline pass to London but was flagged for intentional grounding; thus ending this drive and killing it altogether.
Mac Jones was sacked under pressure on first down, missing Jennings badly and giving McCaffrey several yards with another quick pass play in the Atlanta Falcons Vs 49ers Match Player Stats.

Offense
The Falcons struggled to establish their running attack in this game and it showed on the scoreboard. They only managed one touchdown and field goal in the first half due to inconsistent running plays that hurt them against an elite defense like Christian McCaffrey’s 13-9 performance against them – not to mention Divine Deablo’s early exit in the second quarter having an adverse impact on Atlanta’s run defense.
After halftime, the Falcons started the second half with possession. On their opening drive of the half they went three and out before punting.
Jamal Agnew muffed his kickoff kickoff back to Jamal Penix who attempted a sideline pass to Kyle Pitts but he missed making contact. On the next play he hit Bijan Robinson for two yards on screen pass play action pass play action pass play action play action play but this attempt also was unsuccessful and Penix punted backwards towards their 23-yard line before Jamal Agnew botched the kickoff for San Francisco 49ers gain.
On their next possession, the Falcons continued their short field playmaking. McCaffrey earned another first down off a delayed handoff from Jones before running through the middle for several more plays before getting stopped by Zach Harrison.
As soon as the Falcons offense had the ball again with less than one minute until halftime, trouble struck in the red zone. Michael Penix Jr. found himself with possession in the end zone but was penalized for intentional grounding ten seconds from time. This prevented them from adding another field goal before halftime ended and they went into halftime trailing 10-3.
The Falcons’ second offensive drive started out with three-and-outs but quickly converted them to two-and-outs on subsequent series.
On third down, they tried play-action to Pitts who was unsuccessful at catching it. As time ran out in the half, Penix reached 22 yards only to be sacked by Bryce Huff and his fumble recovered by Alfred Collins for a San Francisco touchdown score.
Defense
After an impressive defensive showing against the Giants and Patriots, Atlanta’s defense collapsed against San Francisco. They gave Christian McCaffrey a big game and failed to provide consistent pressure while also blowing several opportunities to score.
Divine Deablo’s absence was a devastating blow for the defense. The fifth-round rookie has been an invaluable complement to veteran Kaden Elliss in the middle of the field. Unfortunately, Deablo missed most of the first half with a forearm injury before being ruled out for good. JD Bertrand filled in for him.
Defense was solid, but not enough to offset an inadequate performance up front. For the Falcons to have any chance at beating top teams this season, they need to find ways to consistently attack opposing defensive lines without allowing them to clog the middle of the field and stop opposing defenses from dominating games like they have thus far. That may sound impossible; yet without that happening it will likely remain difficult for them to win many games this year – especially against some of those top opponents in their division.
Special teams
Special teams units can make an enormous impact in game outcomes. Punt and kickoff returners play an especially crucial role, helping their teams score points. Fast punt returners who can read the field well to identify open space while evading tacklers will provide enormous advantages, along with having run routes and catch passes without issue.
Special Teams is one of the most underappreciated aspects of football. There have been countless examples of special teams making enormous plays during big games – like Saints onside kicker Jon Caron in Super Bowl XLIV against Indianapolis Colts!
Additionally, special teams contribute a considerable share of total yards and turnovers, so for maximum effectiveness special teams coaches must continually work on improving player abilities and skill.
Punt teams serve an integral function on any special teams unit. Their purpose is to capitalize on advantageous field positions by punting the ball to their opponent when taking advantage of field position advantages and gain as many yards possible from it. Punt teams frequently practice in order to improve performance.
There are various strategies available to teams looking to bolster the performance of their punt team, such as using advanced technology to monitor player movements and develop technique.
Over the past decade, NFL teams have increasingly relied on data-driven methods like this one in order to increase Special Teams effectiveness – this way they can identify mistakes faster, correct them quickly, and thus significantly enhance performance overall.
One way for punt teams to enhance their efficiency is through using special equipment, like power kicks. These devices allow punt teams to make more accurate kicks during practice sessions.
Field Goal and Extra Point Team The final special teams unit is the Field Goal and Extra Point team, and this one may have the greatest influence over deciding a game.
A reliable field goal kicker is essential, while all members of this unit must come together as one to ensure maximum efficiency in its operation; four components must be done properly: Snapping, Protection Holding and Kicking
Final score
After their surprising loss against the Eagles, Atlanta was looking for ways to regroup following an underwhelming start against San Francisco.
Their priority would be stopping Christian McCaffrey’s run game while attacking its vulnerable linebacker corps and secondary. Unfortunately, Atlanta struggled to do this consistently enough and went into halftime trailing 10-3.
Jamal Agnew took Jamal Robinson’s kickoff and ran it for several yards before Bijan Robinson ran for two more. On their next offensive play, McCaffrey powered through JD Bertrand for several more yards. A quick Mac Jones plunge earned a first down but couldn’t reach George Kittle in the end zone on its next play.
Penix then attempted a screen pass to Pitts, who was too open and missed it. A deep shot intended for Mooney landed just short; due to an illegally downfield penalty on Ryan Neuzil for illegally downfield playback five yards had to be given back before Penix released an inexplicable lob which floated off course toward Tyler Allgeier and landed harmlessly on the turf nearby.
On their final play before halftime, the Falcons reached their 22-yard line with 17 seconds remaining – however on a critical fourth down play their offensive line failed to pick up on Penix being called for intentional grounding, effectively negating any chance for them to take a lead into halftime.
After the break, the 49ers managed to quickly take control of the third quarter and maintain momentum on their first possession of the third. Frank Gore helped advance them into red zone territory before an offensive penalty prevented a touchdown score. Meanwhile, defensive end Bryce Huff came up big, stopping several running plays near midfield to force a turnover and allow San Francisco to run out the clock and secure victory.
