Cam Newton
Cam Newton made one appearance during 2018, but will continue his quest for starting job through free agency. On Tuesday, Auburn will hold their Pro Day and is expected to garner considerable interest; Newton may prove beneficial as an DFS asset should a regular gig become available.
The Panthers currently boast Sam Darnold as their starting quarterback but are in search of additional options at quarterback position, including high draft choices in this year’s draft. According to General Manager Scott Fitterer, all options will be taken into consideration before making their decision.
Bryce Young set a franchise record with 448 passing yards against the Falcons on Sunday, completing 31-of-45 passes for three touchdowns to set new career-high pass attempts and completions marks. Sacked twice and intercepted once.
Young also ran five times for 96 yards as part of his overall performance which propelled him over 100 offensive snaps for the first time ever; second-highest snapping Carolina defender Chau Smith-Wade played only 69 defensive snaps this time around.
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan earned two touchdowns to surpass 1,000 yards receiving this season, setting career highs for receptions and receiving yards, in his best game ever in the NFL. McMillan played an integral part of their late game rally by scoring two fourth-quarter scores himself.
Bryce Young had an outstanding first game as the starting quarterback, throwing for 448 yards against Atlanta Falcons – breaking Cam Newton’s previous franchise record of 432 set against Green Bay Packers in Week 15!
This victory also provided Carolina with their first regular season sweep over them since 2013, raising their head-to-head record to 24-37 and improving the record against them by five wins compared to six for Atlanta.
This game was notable for several reasons. For one thing, both Atlanta and Carolina scored 500 points during a single game for the first time ever; and Atlanta defeated Carolina for the first time since 1996 during a road game victory.
Additionally, the Panthers recorded 18 first downs in one game – an NFL record previously achieved only three times! Furthermore, Xavier Legette recorded three 100-yard rushing games this year to surpass any other Panther in terms of total scrimmage yards.
Xavier Legette
On Sunday, Xavier Legette emerged as one of the Panthers’ premier receiving threats and concluded his performance with a 36-yard touchdown reception. With an 83 total yardage output – his most ever in any single game this year and surpassing Tetairoa McMillan for team lead in yards from scrimmage – and also having returned a kick for 44 yards, giving him fifth most total return yards of any player this season, Legette showed exactly why he should be selected first round next year as one of their premier receiving threats!
Legette saw 46 snaps on defense and was targeted once, tallying 18 tackles – more than any player on his team (Chou Smith-Wade was present for only 23 percent of Carolina’s defensive plays).
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had his highest career game against the Panthers to date with 503 passing yards, scoring 40 second half points to claim victory by just two points and earning them a playoff berth despite denying the Panthers their division title. Both teams finished 8-9 records this year – marking this as an historic occasion as both franchises made playoff appearances during one season since NFL realignment.
Christian McCaffrey
Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers set franchise records during a remarkable 2025 season, amassing over 1,800 yards scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns while averaging an incredible 3.9 average yards per carry and throwing over 100 yards for touchdowns. For his efforts he earned recognition from NFL Comeback Player of the Year awards as well as selection to their 2025 All-Pro team.
McCaffrey made an immediate impactful statement early, carrying three times for 41 yards and catching two passes for 114. Later in the second half he scored twice to help the 49ers come from behind against Philadelphia Eagles and was instrumental in their game-winning drive during the fourth quarter.

Christian Covington
Christian Covington currently plays defensive end for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). After playing college football at Rice and being selected in the sixth round of 2015 NFL draft by Houston Texans; Christian also spent time with Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos during his professional football career.
Covington made an important defensive contribution against the Falcons on Sunday, playing 46 snaps – more than in his first 10 games combined (49) and almost equal to Panthers nickel Chau Smith-Wade who represented 23% of their defensive snaps.
Covington registered three tackles (two for loss), one sack and one pass breakup on Saturday. Over his past four games, Covington has amassed 16 total tackles, seven sacks, and four quarterback hurries; making him an exceptional defender who can operate both inside and outside the line, in addition to being an outstanding run defender.
Thomas Incoom
Thomas Incoom has been one of the Panthers’ key special team players this season and on Sunday displayed his versatility by turning in an outstanding defensive performance as well. Playing 46 snaps on defense, Incoom was asked to cover several big receivers making his best effort yet for 2018.
Incoom recorded six tackles and a forced fumble while playing 87 percent of Carolina’s kicking snaps (a significant amount of special teams work). Carolina has already extended Incoom until 2026 as well as safety LaBryan Ray and cornerback Robert Rochell. Krys Barnes and Israel Mukuamu from its practice squad elevation squad have also signed contracts, likely increasing their playing time on gameday.
Ryan Fitzgerald
Here is a breakdown of key stats and figures, along with snap counts from Panthers quarterback Bryce Young’s career-best 448 passing yards performance against Atlanta Falcons in an overtime 30-27 win. His performance set a new franchise record for most passing yards ever in one game and marked his third straight game with 300+ passing yards.
Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald made two field goals of 47 and 35 yards; his second field goal proved decisive as it was scored with less than one minute remaining in the game, providing an amazing game-winner and walk-off victory for his side. Additionally, he hit an earlier 31-yarder before successfully making all three extra point attempts.
The Panthers were able to limit Matt Ryan’s production during the first half, yet Atlanta still managed to build up an overwhelming lead after halftime.
Meanwhile, Carolina’s offense took advantage of any mistakes by the Falcons during the fourth quarter and capitalized on them, scoring twice while only having one turnover (an attempted pass intended for Cam Newton that was intercepted by Krys Barnes) which they couldn’t convert.
Thomas Incoom played most of his snaps (87 percent), while Krys Barnes and Israel Mukuamu were limited solely to special team duties during special team play.
