The Icc Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament takes place every year, where four teams from each group qualify to represent their nation at the 2026 tournament.

The Icc Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier is held annually in different locations, giving teams from around the world a fair opportunity to compete and secure a spot in the global event.

Ireland’s Arlene Kelly rose seven places to 36th overall on the T20I rankings list while Orla Prendergast advanced 10 rungs up the bowler list to 45th.

Qualification

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier is the first step in qualifying for the 2026 edition. Australia, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa automatically qualify, while remaining spots will be decided through regional and global qualifiers. This qualifier takes place every two years.

The qualifying tournament begins with a group stage, in which teams face off against one another in single-headed round-robin matches.

At this point, three top teams from each group advance to Super Six stage; those four top-scoring Super Six teams will then advance further and ultimately make the cut for tournament participation.

Nepal will host the International Cricket Council Women’s T20 World Qualifier from November 17 – 22, 2017 on two grounds – Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur and Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu – scheduled as two rounds each day starting at 9:00 AM local time and two at 1:00 PM local time respectively.

Each match in Phase One of this qualifier will consist of 20 matches; four matches per day scheduled between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM local time will comprise its initial phase.

During the warm-up matches, some of the top players demonstrated their quality by impressing with their performances. Ireland’s Orla Prendergast scored back-to-back half centuries, while Papua New Guinea’s Konio Oala made an astounding 52 ball 71 to take victory from 52 balls quickly. Heather Siegers from Netherlands also showcased all-round ability.

On July 5, Lord’s in London will host the finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for its 10th edition – making this competition one of the most successful women’s T20 competitions ever hosted by cricket.

This year’s tournament will include 12 teams – two more than last year’s event – with England as the host playing in a separate group from other participants in the competition.

Two other groups will include teams from Asia/Oceania region and Europe/Africa regions respectively; in group stage each team will face two matches against their groupmate twice; with top three qualifying for next stage and remaining two being invited by ICC into that particular group by way of invitation from them both.

Host country

The International Cricket Council Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026 is scheduled to take place in Nepal from January 18 to February 1.

At the first stage of ICC Women’s T20World Cup Qualifier, teams will be divided into two groups with each team playing all other members once.

At this point, only the top three teams in each group will advance to Super Six round and meet other three qualified from another group; winners of Super Six qualify for England & Wales Championship of ICC Women’s T20.

Twenty-four matches will take place during the group stage, with four scheduled every day at both venues: Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground Kirtipur will host 16 of them while Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground Kathmandu will play host to 13 others – for more details click here. Prior to the qualifier, several regional tournaments were hosted to determine which countries would advance to the global tournament.

Europe Qualifier tournaments were hosted in Botswana and Namibia while Africa and Americas qualifiers took place in Argentina and Thailand respectively. The top two teams from each qualifier will join England, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka automatically qualified teams.

The 10 qualifying teams have been divided into two groups of five teams each, with Bangladesh, Ireland, Papua New Guinea and United States making up Group A while Nepal Netherlands Scotland and Zimbabwe make up Group B.

The winners from Groups A & B will join host nation in 2026 while remaining teams compete annually at a Global Qualifier tournament hosted in a different location with finals taking place elsewhere than host country each time around.

Matches

At the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, 10 teams will vie for four spots in the tournament. Divided into two groups of five and playing a round-robin format against each other, top three teams in each group will advance to Super Six stage where they’ll face three qualifiers from opposing group and compete against them until only two remain to make up final six qualifiers who then go onto World Cup tournament.

Venues

On Sunday, January 18th in Nepal will take place the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026. Ten teams will compete to earn four spots at this year’s world tournament held in England; its winners will join eight nations that have already qualified. There will be both group stage and Super Six stages throughout this competition.

The qualifier features 10 teams divided into two groups of five teams each. The top three from each of those groups will advance to a Super Six stage where they’ll face each other; the team with the most points at that stage will qualify for England 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup.

From 18 to January 1 in Nepal, the inaugural stage of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers will take place. Each venue can hold approximately 5,000 fans. Furthermore, fans unable to make it in person can watch live streaming of games provided by ICC.

Ireland’s Orla Prendergast and Netherlands’ Heather Siegers have shown impressive form leading up to this event, both delivering impressive performances during warm-up games for their respective teams: Prendergast scored 77 off 38 balls against Namibia while Siegers hit an unbeaten 86 against Zimbabwe.

As opposed to the previous edition, this year’s qualifier doesn’t feature hosts; Bangladesh initially raised security concerns and requested exclusion; however, ICC refused their request and reinstated them as one of this year’s competitors.

The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in England from June 12 to July 5. Host nation England as well as the top five teams from their last tournament (Australia, India, New Zealand, South Africa and West Indies) automatically qualified. Any additional spots were determined through regional qualifiers including Europe qualifier, East Asia-Pacific qualifier and Global qualifier.
