India vs West Indies

India’s national cricket team, commonly referred to as “The Men in Blue,” is one of the most well-recognized in international competition.

Administered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), this national squad represents its country internationally at international competitions – winning numerous tournaments and trophies along the way including 1983 ICC Cricket World Cup victory.

The West Indies have long been one of the dominant powers in global cricket, having won two ICC Cricket World Cups (1975 and 1979) while finishing runners-up twice (2004 and 2016).

Additionally, they have claimed two ICC Trophy victories and three T20 World Cup championships, among numerous other achievements.

They are best known for their powerful batting attacks that score high scores during limited overs matches; many West Indian stars such as Viv Richards, Clive Lloyd, and Chris Gayle are household names around the globe.

Established in 1929, the BCCI is the primary organization responsible for overseeing Indian cricket team and first-class cricket in India. Based out of Mumbai and a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), its board selects players for national team through a zonal selection system managed by Ajit Agarkar as chief selector.

India held its inaugural Test match in 1932, yet it took over 70 years before India emerged as a serious cricketing power. Numerous talented captains such as Lala Amarnath, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev led India during this time; eventually winning them the 1983 Cricket World Cup victory under Dev’s guidance.

India was struggling in the early 2000s, struggling in both one-day internationals (ODIs) and away Test matches (Tests). But with Virat Kohli taking over as captain, things drastically improved for India – they eventually went on to dominate 50-over cricket with an unprecedented record in 50-over format competitions.

Rohit Sharma took over as captain in 2016 and has led India to multiple victories under his guidance since. Rohit has successfully lead them against New Zealand in an extensive series and won both the Asia Cup and Nidahas Trophy trophy since.

West Indies have an excellent chance at victory in this match-up, having gone unbeaten in their previous four One Day Internationals (ODI). Their batting line-up features some of the fastest bowlers worldwide while Jason Holder provides experience batsman to start scoring early.

Windies’ victory here would help their preparations for their ICC Champions Trophy campaign in England and Wales, but the hosts must improve both batting and fielding to give themselves the best chance of success. This game could end up as one of the key ones of group play; stay tuned on social media channels for live updates from Kolkata!
