Timeline

The India women’s national cricket team represents India internationally in cricket competition. It is administered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), having first been founded under Women’s Cricket Association of India’s auspices before merging into BCCI in November 2006.

Today it enjoys full membership status of International Cricket Council for Test, One-Day Internationals, Twenty20 Internationals as well as Twenty20 tournaments – winning several prestigious events including World Cup tournaments over its history.

Australia Women’s National Cricket Team will tour India for three ODIs ahead of the World Cup, led by Georgia Wareham who will fill in as captain for Ellyse Perry during her absence. Expectations are that Georgia Wareham’s leadership will help her side perform strongly during these matches.

Harmanpreet Kaur marks a landmark, reaching 8,000 ODI runs for India. Her and Smriti Zubin’s record-setting performance helped India win by 246 runs against Australia at home since 2007, setting their highest total against them since 2007.

Megan Schutt became one of four Australian players to achieve 300 international wickets after Ellyse Perry, Heather Knight, and Ellyse Powell had done it previously.

Healy begins bowling off-breaks, and they soon produce two dot balls before an off-break was dragged down and leg side – Rana swept it for four through fine leg.

Amanjot has returned to the pitch and she seems more assured this time around, conceding only three runs off her second over and then bowling three dot balls after that over was complete. Unfortunately for Healy though, she may need to wait her turn.

Schedule

India Women’s National Cricket Team will travel to Australia this September and play four ODIs and two T20Is against them as part of their tour 2025-26.

The first match will take place at Bellerive Oval in Melbourne on 10 September; Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane will then follow before concluding their series in a day/night WACA Test match against Perth on 26 September.

The BCCI has released their squads for both ODIs and T20Is against Australia, featuring new caps such as Pratika Rawal and Sayali Satghare making their debuts. Renuka Thakur and Kashvee Gautam were left out from this ODI squad announcement.

Jemimah Rodrigues produced a career-best 144 against Australia in the third ODI to help India beat them by 21 runs and secure an emphatic victory for India over Australia by 21 runs.

Rodrigues set an unprecedented run-chase total at home – it stands as the second-highest overall. She also set the highest knockout score ever seen by any woman player (148 set by Nat-Sciver Brunt against South Africa during the 2017 semi-final in Derby was previously).

India will defend their T20I title against an Australia side which has gone undefeated so far, hoping to avenge their defeat in the World Cup final against Australia back in 2022 – where they narrowly lost out on a chance at glory.

Healy will bow out from international cricket following her tour, having decided to retire after winning over 200 caps and scoring over 7,000 runs across all formats. She will be joined in retirement by wicketkeeper Beth Mooney and fast bowler Ellyse Perry – three highly influential figures of modern women’s cricket.

India leads Australia 5-0 in ODIs while Australia has won four out of the six T20Is played. These two sides will meet again for the final of this T20I series in Perth on 10 November; it will mark the first ever T20I match held outside India.

Australia will look to seal their third consecutive victory over India in the ODI series by overpowering an injury-hit Indian side in this matchup. Jemimah Rodrigues hopes that her heroic performance against England in which she hit an unbeaten 148 off only 92 balls can serve as inspiration in their attempt.

Indian team are poised for an upsurge thanks to the return of Priyanka Chopra and inclusion of several uncapped players. It will be an essential series for them, who are determined to retain their title.

Should they manage to win all games, India would become only second nation ever to have won three consecutive ODI World Cup titles; something which would give their early struggle some much needed momentum boost.

Alysse Perry’s 76-run knock wasn’t enough for Australia to defeat India in the Women’s ODI series final at Bellerive Oval, but it marked an appropriate way for her to end her international career.

She became the first Australian player ever to play 350 ODI matches and break Tammy Beaumont’s record by surpassing it; while retiring after over 15 years is certainly long overdue but will always be remembered fondly as an incredible contributor to women’s cricket.

Australia will seek to take an early 2-0 lead in this series at Melbourne Cricket Ground with their second one-day international. India, however, must rebound after an unexpectedly poor first ODI performance which saw them being bowled out for just 177 runs against 338 by Australia.

Jemimah Rodrigues made history when she became the first Indian batter ever to score a century in an Women’s ODI World Cup knockout run-chase at just 18 years of age! Her innings was nothing short of outstanding; from its timing on the ball to its pinpoint hitting around the wicket. It truly was an astounding performance all round!

India haven’t won an one-day international against Australia in a while, but they may just pull it off on this occasion. Their recent success in one-day internationals will provide ample preparation for this pivotal contest; and will surely want to avoid being whitewashed once and for all.

The inaugural One Day International at Melbourne Cricket Ground will be shown live on Star Sports website and Hotstar streaming app from 8:00 AM IST, while those without access can watch on Cricinfo livestreaming service instead of Star or Hotstar (English with Hindi subtitling available for those preferring it).
