RR vs LSG

Royals and LSG have met six times in the Indian Premier League since LSG first entered as an IPL franchise in 2022, and Royals have held on to an unblemished head-to-head record, winning four times to two.

At their last encounter at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium RR secured an unbeaten half century from Shimron Hetmyer and Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets at one end for an important three-run win.

Chasing 180 runs, RR appeared poised for victory as their young left-handers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi started aggressively.

But Hetmyer’s late blitz reduced it to 9 needed off 6 balls before Avesh Khan removed both batsmen to put RR back on its heels.

Though they tried, the hosts could not halt their opponent and fell to defeat; their playoff hopes now in jeopardy.

If they wish to maintain playoff contention in future matches, powerplay performance needs to improve to stay within top-4 spots in their table.

Rajasthan Royals and LSG enter Saturday’s eighth match of the Indian Premier League 2025 on differing platforms;

Rajasthan are recovering from their recent Super Over loss against Delhi Capitals while LSG are riding high after three consecutive wins and host Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium with much riding on this clash.

At Ekana Stadium, Royals defeated LSG by seven wickets, recording their highest score ever. Sanju Samson scored unbeaten on 71 off 33 balls to help his side achieve an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 121 runs with Dhruv Jurel that helped them achieve the target of 199.

Jofra Archer will be key to LSG’s chances, while fast bowlers Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana should provide support.

Both teams boast strong bowling attacks, but Royals need to improve their top-order batting. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag showed some promise against Royal Challengers Bangalore but their fellow top-order batsmen have struggled to form consistent partnerships. With a win, Royals could revive playoff hopes while atoning for their slow start this season.

If RR win the toss, they might opt to bat first; however, recent seasons’ pitches have proven ideal for both batsmen and bowlers – so choosing to bat could prove detrimental.

RR are yet to win their inaugural game of the season and must quickly find victory if they want to remain in contention for a top-four position.

At two wins from seven matches played so far, any slipup could spell disaster; an expected defeat against LSG may prove disastrous for their playoff dreams.
