New England quarterback Jacoby Brissett endured a rough first half, but managed to turn things around with two fourth-quarter scoring drives helped by Kayshon Boutte and Rhamondre Stevenson’s big first down and touchdown runs respectively.
The Patriots special teams had an up-and-down night, with Marcus Jones’ blocked punt being one of few bright spots during a difficult first quarter performance.
In this article, we will discuss the main points or high lights of New York Jets vs New England Patriots Match Player Stats.
QB Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers entered the game as the NFL’s all-time leader in regular season passer rating and second all-time in terms of touchdown passes and touchdown-to-interception ratio. Additionally, he holds the single season record for highest yards-per-attempt average and is fourth overall when considering completions per game. Early on, New York quarterback Eli Manning was in excellent form, connecting with receivers Jeremy Ruckert and Allen Lazard for first-down gains on its opening drive before completing 17 of 28 pass attempts for 233 yards and two touchdowns – running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen also contributed 80 yards on the ground for New York. However, their rushing attack was limited to only one yard during the final quarter and kicker Nick Folk missed a 53-yard field goal attempt; as a result of these factors the Patriots scored on both drives of their first two drives for an early 24-3 lead with under three minutes left in play.
At the start of the second quarter, the Jets took possession and began running slant routes from Rodgers. Hall ran through an opening in the line to beat two defenders to the end zone for his inaugural touchdown catch in New York – Rodgers had now thrown at least two touchdown passes in three consecutive games!
As New England trailed 24-3 late in the fourth quarter, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett attempted an upset at New Meadowlands Stadium. On his first play a slant to Rob Gronkowski was covered well and only gained six yards, followed by a deep throw intended for Wes Welker but overshot its mark and missed by inches. Neither play proved fruitful for New England as we ultimately fell 24-3 to Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.
RB Breece Hall
Breece Hall has been an impressive performer on the Jets offense, rushing for an astounding career-high 550 yards on only 107 carries and catching seven passes for 78 yards – both impressive feats that will remain relevant even against tougher opponents like New England in week 11. While their opponent might prove more challenging this week, fantasy players should still consider including him when considering their lineups against Patriots opponents.
According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, New York Jets running back Breece Hall is not in contract extension talks with them according to reports from The Athletic. While he possesses experience within their run-heavy scheme and three-down running ability, last season he fell short of expectations and may be traded before the deadline passes.
Hall could become a top-tier RB2 this season if the Jets improve on their offensive side, receiving work alongside Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis and providing an attractive option in PPR leagues as a receiving flex option.
Drake Maye has been disappointing, but he could get more chances this weekend. The Patriots defense has proven adept against running backs, while the Jets may opt not to use too many running plays themselves.
The New England Patriots are projected to beat the New York Jets easily this Sunday, as their defense remains the best in the NFL and their offense has struggled mightily this season. Jacoby Brissett will face his first test as backup quarterback of New England against these unproven Jets this Sunday; should they come away victorious, this could tie all-time series 1-1; should they fall to 1-3 this will be devastating for New York who came in expecting big things.
WR Allen Lazard
The Jets gave wide receiver Allen Lazard permission to pursue a trade in early March. Lazard, 29, has struggled since signing his four-year, $44 million contract in 2023 and caught 60 catches out of 109 targets for 861 yards and seven touchdowns during his two seasons with them.
Lazard was limited in practice on Tuesday and is still uncertain for Thursday night’s game against the Patriots. If he remains out again, Mike Williams may receive more targets if Lazard cannot.
Fantasy managers should closely track Lazard, as he is one of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ preferred targets. Lazard made a couple of impressive catches over the middle during 7-on-7 drills during OTAs and looked very comfortable playing alongside Rodgers.
Lazard remains an integral component of the Jets offense despite his unimpressive production, serving as a reliable target for Aaron Rodgers during last season and consistently being productive threat in previous campaigns. As long as his health holds up, Lazard should remain an option for them.
The Jets and Lazard recently reached a revised contract deal for the 2025 season. Under it, they guaranteed $1.75 million of his base salary while canceling out his final year (2026) to reduce his cap hit from $11 million to $4.6 million and give game-by-game roster bonuses; this should make him more desirable to incoming quarterback Justin Fields; however it may require him to take a significant pay cut to attract interest in trading or they could release him entirely by the Jets.
TE Jeremy Ruckert
The Patriots hold an impressive 74-55-1 record against the Jets, winning three out of their last four meetings and appearing in three postseason contests (a 1985 wild card game and two AFC Divisional matches in 2006 and 2010). Gillette Stadium will serve as host for their meeting this season – it hasn’t hosted either side since 2023!
New York Jets tight end Jeremy Ruckert has made steady gains at tight end since last season, yet remains behind C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin on their respective depth charts – making it difficult for redraft fantasy league players to target him this season.
Ruckert was a prolific receiver for Ohio State, yet as an NFL rookie he’s struggled with injury issues that may limit his practice participation this week.
Since his brief career started, former Buckeye wideout has yet to score a touchdown and caught just 18 of 28 targets for 105 yards. Furthermore, his opponents include a tough Patriots secondary that ranks first in terms of passing yards allowed and second for sacks per pass play – both are formidable assets to face off against.
The Patriots will face an early challenge from Breece Hall and Braelon Allen of the Jets as they lead an effective running attack that has amassed 116 yards on 30 carries (3.9 average) this season. But recent performances from their front seven suggest they should be able to contain Hall.
RB James White
James White returned to the lineup Thursday night against the Patriots and helped the Jets control the ball. He recorded 54 yards on 16 carries, scoring late in the third quarter with his run. Additionally, White caught three passes for 35 yards including a two-yard touchdown reception from Matt Cassel with about five minutes left in the game.
New York special teams were inconsistent, yet still managed to produce some positive results. Marcus Jones had an early 15-yard punt return while Bryce Baringer blocked a field goal late in the first half, giving Dee Williams an opportunity to return it 24 yards for a first down. Joey Slye averaged 45-yard punts which often pinged deep into Patriot territory.
A strong defensive performance by the Jets limited Jacoby Brissett to only 98 yards passing, marking their second time this week to sack their opponent’s quarterback; DE Keion White tied for team lead with two sacks.
LB Kyle Dugger recorded his fifth double-digit tackle performance of his career and was one of four players on the team with at least 10 tackles, setting an NFL franchise record with seven or more tackles registered across four consecutive appearances this season and reaching that threshold every time out (he has also registered seven or more tackles each time!). Should Dugger reach 10 again against the Patriots he will join LB Andre Tippett (1994-1996), Matthew Judon (2001), and Ja’Whaun Bentley (2022); his current streak being the longest ever set by any individual!
