Zimbabwe openers Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani made an excellent start during Zimbabwe’s Powerplay innings, but spinners like Mohammad Nawaz kept derailering their charge until captain Sikander Raza’s late cameo helped steer Chevrons to 147 runs.
Zimbabwe bowlers Brad Evans, Richard Ngarava, and Tinotenda Maposa put up an admirable fight in the Pakistan National Cricket Team vs Zimbabwe National Cricket Team match scorecard.

Pakistan vs Zimbabwe (Test)
Pakistan could have used a victory over Zimbabwe to propel them towards qualifying for the 2023 World Cup final, though Australia and South Africa would remain formidable challenges on that path.
Instead, an impressive performance against Zimbabwe may provide just enough momentum for a successful journey toward that final.
This game was an evenly-contested affair with both teams struggling to get their batting lineups going. Zimbabwe eventually outscored Pakistan despite some poor fielding from hosts; Mohammad Hafeez hit 42 for Pakistan but this wasn’t enough to change things around.
After the second day’s play, Neil Johnson’s maiden century gave Zimbabwe hope that they could stage a comeback in this match.
Unfortunately, poor Pakistan fielding meant he was dropped on 99 by Azhar Mahmood at slips, depriving Wasim Akram of taking his 350th Test wicket and missing his 350th wicket milestone altogether.
Akram then had Olanga caught at third slip before bowling him leg-before en route to Zimbabwe being dismissed for 272.
Pakistan are currently sixth in the Test rankings after losing to England but can move into fourth if they beat Zimbabwe in a series win.
They also boast impressive records in ODIs and T20Is and could qualify for 2023 World Cup final with their impressive run of form over recent years.
Pakistan men’s team has been an unfaltering force at the highest level of international cricket for some time, winning various tournaments like the Asian Cup twice and several ICC Champions Trophy titles including their most recent triumph against Sri Lanka three-match series in 2015.
Additionally, they reached both semi-finals of ICC T20 World Cup twice and quarter-finals once at ODI World Cup; these successes have raised hopes among many that Pakistan can make an impactful statement at 2023 World Cup.

Pakistan overcame a slow start and eventually amassed 151-5 against Zimbabwe in their 20-over T20 tri-series opener on Tuesday thanks to an outstanding late innings from Fakhar Zaman, which propelled their hosts towards their target easily.
Mohammad Nawaz (2-22), Abrar Ahmed (1-28), and Sahibzada Farhan (3-31) restricted Zimbabwe’s reply to 145-8 in response.
