Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR’s victory against RCB on Saturday afternoon may not have put their playoff hopes to rest, but it was nonetheless encouraging to see them start to find some form. Sunil Narine was at his clinical best while openers have laid some solid foundation.

Venkatesh Iyer will remain an essential piece for their side as middle-order batsman who has struggled throughout this season by scoring single figures four out of six innings while only reaching 40 once.

Defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad were defeated by Mumbai Indians in their previous match, yet still stand an excellent chance at making the playoffs.

Tied on points with Delhi Capitals and with one game left against Sunrisers Hyderabad; both teams will hope that by winning this Eden Gardens fixture and increasing their playoff bid.

Rajasthan Royals have won three out of their seven matches played at Eden Gardens this season, but their last two outings there ended in defeat and will look to reverse that trend this time around.

They have struggled in the powerplay this season, with their dot-ball rate in overs 7-16 being one of the worst in the league.

After parting ways with Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal at auction, early signs indicate this decision could come back to haunt them; replacement spinners Theekshana Hasaranga lack control or wicket-taking prowess similar to their predecessors’.

Ranchi’s JSCA International Cricket Stadium features some rough marks on both off and leg stumps, suggesting it might favor spinners over fast bowlers this season.

Furthermore, its surface should be somewhat dryer than that at Eden Gardens which has been more conducive to fast bowling this year.

RR bowlers must be more consistent with the new ball, especially against KKR. Akash Madhwal should remain at his position and Kumar Karthik can step in as an effective replacement for Sandeep Sharma (injured).

Although Karthik may be tempted to play his natural game instead of picking up wickets during death overs, Tushar Deshpande can provide additional variation with off-breaks and googlies; Anukul Roy proved successful against RCB during his debut.

RR vs KKR

Indian Premier League’s RR vs KKR match-up is one of the most storied and passionate rivalries, known for its exciting finishes and stellar performances from world-class players.

Since IPL began in 2008, fans have witnessed many thrilling games between these two sides filled with aggressive batting tactics, smart bowling strategies, and thrilling finishes that leave fans breathless!

After winning the toss, KKR decided to bat first and posted an impressive total of 206 runs thanks to Andre Russell’s magnificent unbeaten 57 off 41 balls – a truly outstanding performance from him who kept up an excellent run-rate through some clean hitting.

RR began their innings poorly as they regularly lost wickets to Theekshana and Archer for quickfire 44s from Rahane and Raghuvanshi respectively.

Riyan Parag, however, rose to take charge with an assured innings full of freely scored boundaries as well as big sixes complemented by Shimron Hetmyer who provided much-needed stability to their innings.

At midway point, Royals found themselves struggling and slumped to 71-5 with an enormous challenge ahead of them.

A brilliant assault by Parag in the 13th over completely altered the game – smashing five consecutive sixes against Moeen Ali to reignite hope and bring them right back into contention.

Hetmyer too played his part admirably and brought them right back into contention until outwitted by Rana in 16th over.

At that point, it was all-or-nothing: RR needed 22 runs from three balls in order to secure victory, yet Shubham Dubey failed to add two runs and Vaibhav Arora made the game safe with an outstanding runout that earned KKR victory by one run.

KKR’s victory kept their playoffs hopes alive in this tournament. Now with three more matches remaining and an outside shot at making the top four, they will likely remain favorites to win their remaining matches and secure a spot among them.

On the other hand, RR are currently still in the bottom half and must win all their remaining matches to make the playoffs or risk elimination in round 1. So let’s look at key stats from this matchup!
