RCB vs RR
Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals has long been considered one of the fiercest rivalries in IPL history.
Over 33 encounters since 2008 when the league first kicked off, both teams have clashed 33 times between them with Royal Challengers Bangalore winning 17 matches while Rajasthan Royals managed 14 victories over them.
Last time they met at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, RCB edged past Rajasthan by nine wickets to give themselves a much-needed lift and move up from ninth position into third spot in the points table while Rajasthan maintained eighth with only four points.
Virat Kohli and Co will have high expectations from RCB in their match against an underperforming Rajasthan side, hoping that Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone and Rajat Patidar can lead them to victory. Jofra Archer hopes to maintain his winning form as their most efficient bowler this season.
Rajasthan will be without injured captain Sanju Samson for this matchup due to an abdominal injury, although youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could get his chance after making an impressive debut against Lucknow Super Giants and scoring a fifty.
Of all their batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal will remain as an anchor figure; supported by youngsters such as Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag. Likewise, spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana will hopefully perform strongly for them both sides.
RR vs RCB Head-to-Head Record
At 32 IPL matches played between RCB and RR, 15 have gone the way of RCB while 14 went to RR – three games ended without any clear winner being declared.
This match marks the second encounter between these teams during the 2025 season. Their first meeting took place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and saw Rajasthan Royals emerge victorious following Jos Buttler’s superb unbeaten 106 off 60 balls – both an individual record for this fixture and also a joint-highest total by any IPL team!
The game will be high-stakes on both sides as RCB seeks to strengthen their playoff standing while RR attempts to avoid another defeat. RCB have won four in a row while they currently sit eighth out of eight teams.
RCB have had trouble playing away this season, winning only two out of their five road matches. Their poor performance has been mostly attributable to inconsistent batting – an average of only 22.1 runs per wicket was achieved and conceded heavily too. On Thursday they’ll hope that things turn around at M Chinnaswamy Stadium!
The Royals suffered an unexpected defeat against Gujarat Titans at ACA Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shimron Hetmyer led Royals batsmen while Jofra Archer shined with his bowling.
Looking ahead, The Royals hope to rebound when hosting Royal Challengers Bangalore for their third home match of 2018.
RCB have won both of their previous matches at M Chinnaswamy stadium against Royals, and will look to extend that run in this fixture.
However, Royals’ recent form has been better as they’ve won both their road matches since. Both teams will likely field their strongest team in this match, including Kohli, Buttler and Jaiswal who should all perform admirably.
It will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network in India while JioCinema app and platform provide live streaming capabilities throughout India. The game will begin at 3:30 pm IST. As this is an afternoon match and temperatures in Jaipur may reach 37-38 degrees Celsius, playing conditions could prove challenging for both teams due to heat.
As heat can greatly hinder cricket quality and therefore its quality will play a significant role in this matchup. The ball won’t travel very far on this pitch, restricting batsmen to boundaries and sixes only. Furthermore, fast bowlers may benefit from its surface; therefore a lot of emphasis will be put on pace and spin bowling – an aspect which has proven essential in prior matches between these sides. Successful fielders are essential since both have made costly errors during previous matches.
