Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh

The Sri Lanka National Cricket Team represents Sri Lanka internationally in international matches and is controlled by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLBC). Their captain is appointed by President Sirisena for five-year terms; coach and assistant coaches are selected by SLBC; domestic as well as international games are played regularly; they have won many trophies; however there has been some tension and competition with Bangladesh Cricket Board over recent times.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have met each other 17 times for T20I matches; Sri Lanka have won 11 while Bangladesh have triumphed six times. Sri Lanka claimed victory during their most recent meeting 2-1 against Bangladesh at Champions Trophy 2016.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will meet for the inaugural T20 series between them. The match should prove highly entertaining as both teams have long enjoyed an intense rivalry that transcends cricket – mocking each other at various competitions while trading insults on and off the pitch.

Sri Lanka got off to an excellent start in their match against South Africa by posting a respectable total of 221 runs in their 20 overs. Avishka Fernando struggled in his opening over against Shoriful Islam but Kamindu Mendis made up for it by starting at an astonishing pace. They shared in a partnership of 66 for the second wicket before Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera added 80 more runs that took them past 250.

Bangladesh began their chase with a deficit of 51 runs but Mominul Haque managed to remain calm, hitting all loose balls for fours and sixes on his way to reaching 50 by 18th over. Together with Karunaratne he added 67 for fourth wicket stand that ensured their team did not falter in its chase.

Sri Lankan bowlers performed admirably as they utilized the in-between channel with variations, keeping run rate down and picking off crucial wickets with variations – although too many extra balls didn’t help their cause; Shoriful Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto each took one wicket while Taskin Ahmed, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Mahedi Hasan shared one each as well. Unfortunately for Bangladesh though, their batters let them down at last with no attempt at mounting comeback; this marked first time ever that Bangladesh were defeated in T20 match since 2016. India will then face them off in their final game of Champions Trophy which will take place at Galle.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh always deliver captivating cricket matches, showcasing some of Asia’s best talent. Both teams feature experienced veterans as well as emerging talent who create an intense rivalry, keeping fans riveted until the final result is revealed.

The inaugural Test between these sides will take place at Galle Stadium on June 17, and then at Singhalese Sports Club Cricket ground in Colombo on June 25. These highly anticipated matches mark the official commencement of both countries’ 2025-27 World Test Championship cycles.

Sri Lanka is widely considered one of the premier limited-overs teams worldwide due to their powerful batting lineup and legendary batsmen like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene leading them. Famously known for attacking batting in its opening 15 overs as well as spectacular bowling by off-spinner Lasith Malinga.

Bangladesh have made tremendous strides forward in their ODI game and recently performed well enough to rise from eighth place to sixth globally in terms of rankings. Both batting and bowling have shown marked improvements. Led by former India captain Soumya Sarkar and featuring talented young players alongside veteran campaigners.

Bangladesh recently visited Zimbabwe to bolster their One Day International game and won one Test match and three ODI matches, boasting impressive ODI performances with back-to-back victories over Zimbabwe in an ODI series. They even beat them by 220 runs during one test match – Mahmudullah and Shadman Islam both scored centuries in this encounter!

Bangladesh will look forward to playing Sri Lanka in ODIs as another opportunity to prove their mettle in cricket. Their squad boasts several newcomers and they hope to add even more victories to their growing tally of ODI victories.

Sri Lanka are also seeking to improve their ODI fortunes and are scheduled to play three ODIs against Bangladesh this month. Following a painful loss against India last time out, they’ll be hoping to rectify that error against Bangladesh. Ebadot Hossain’s return from injury also provides the team with a boost, as he took several wickets during group stages of the Asian Cup to contribute significantly towards Sri Lanka’s chances of reaching World Cup quarter-finals 2022. ODI matches will play an essential part in that goal. If India can continue their stellar performance at this level, they could make a deep run in the tournament. But first they will need to put in plenty of work in preparation. This will be particularly essential during their home match against Bangladesh; their young players such as Sarkar, Hasan Murad and Mehidy Hasan must deliver results for them in this match-up.
