Rishabh Pant is out on an extended leave due to Test players being rested ahead of their red-ball series against New Zealand, so Suryakumar Yadav, India’s shortest format captain has confirmed that Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma will open for India against Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series. Yadav replaced Rohit as captain following India’s 2024 World Cup success and feels Sanju Samson will provide stability within their batting order.
“Both these players play very well in this format,” he told media members. “Samson has extensive experience playing this format for his IPL team as well; he can provide stability to our side while being adept at reading bowlers very effectively,” he continued.
Yash Dayal expressed his pleasure with the overall squad selection for the three-match series commencing at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on Sunday.
