2007-2008 Kitply Cup 3rd ODI Match
Bangladesh and India’s cricketing rivalry is one of the most thrilling in all of sport. Over its history, this rivalry has produced numerous memorable moments and some dramatic, heated encounters that have contributed significantly to both nations’ development; especially their ability to compete on an international stage. They have faced each other 13 Test matches plus 14 ODIs and T20Is combined.
India won their initial One-Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh resoundingly in 1990, as Bangladesh were still developing their cricketing nation at that time. Since then however, they have strengthened and matured as players while becoming formidable cricketing forces.
India won this match by 280 runs after Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Navjot Sidhu made history, scoring an outstanding century which helped his team achieve victory and earning him Man of the Match honors for his efforts.
Mohammad Shami led India’s bowling performance during their second innings, highlighted by his 5-53 five-wicket haul – his sixth ODI five-wicket haul overall! Shubman Gill also impressed with 119 runs at an economy rate of 3.16 which helped India achieve their target of 229 runs within 16 overs – earning him Man of the Match honors for his outstanding bating performances.
2006-2007 ICC World Cup 8th Match
India has long dominated Bangladesh in ICC tournaments, yet their rivalry has produced some memorable matches. Once considered in decline, Bangladesh have come back strong as an opponent – this should produce some high-quality cricket from both teams.
This game could prove pivotal for both teams; India are looking to start this series off right at home, while Bangladesh have made their presence felt against Pakistan through two impressive Test series wins and are looking for ways to demonstrate it.
Mashrafe Mortaza of Bangladesh, known for his extraordinary performance in one day internationals (ODIs), came into this game under great scrutiny and didn’t disappoint with his persistence and skill wreaking havoc for India’s batting lineup.
India won their home match comfortably by 86 runs at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. India batted first and scored 314 runs in 50 overs while Bangladesh could only manage to score 286. Mayank Agarwal earned Man of the Match honors; Virat Kohli, Murali Vijay and Wriddhiman Saha also contributed towards India’s victory – it being India’s inaugural ODI to have been reduced from 50 overs to 47 due to rain.
2024-2025 India v Bangladesh 2nd T20I Match
India defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in Gwalior to take an early advantage in the three-match T20I series and is hoping to continue its dominance with victory on Wednesday at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting 7 pm local time and live streamed via JioCinema.
India won the toss and were asked to bat first after losing it, easily dominating Bangladeshi bowlers to post an impressive total of 221 runs in 20 overs. Sanju Samson made an early statement of intent with 19-ball 29, showing his ability to play freely during powerplay innings. Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh both notched fifties while Hardik Pandya contributed 32 runs as an invaluable XI support.
Bangladesh were restricted to just 135-8 in their reply and lost by 86 runs in the second T20I game against India. They will welcome back all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz after he was left out from their last match, alongside Litton Das, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib as batsmen who could help score runs in T20Is.
India will award debut caps to Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy in this game, who impressed in their initial T20I against Bangladesh and should get plenty of opportunities from head coach Gautam Gambhir to showcase their worth.
2022-2023 Bangladesh v India 1st ODI Match
India and Bangladesh will clash in a three-match ODI series that will be followed by two Test matches, marking India’s return to Bangladesh since 2012. Bangladesh are full of confidence after their impressive 2-0 win against Pakistan last time out and are keen to build upon that in this game.
The series will begin in Mirpur with an ODI on Sunday, December 4 before moving onto Chattogram for two and three games before concluding with one in Dhaka on December 10.
India will look to avoid a whitewash as they attempt to bounce back after their heartbreaking 2-1 loss against New Zealand. While they possess a strong batting lineup, they must improve their bowling in order to compete against Bangladesh Tigers.
Liton Das was Bangladesh’s top scorer in the first ODI and will play an instrumental role against India. An excellent batsman who can also contribute with the ball, Liton Das will provide some stability in the middle order as Mehidy Hasan Miraz provides support with all-round abilities against India spinners with his power-hitting capabilities and all-round experience. Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Yamin made two cameo appearances against T20s but will likely get more opportunities against Rahul or Shreyas Iyer’s bat or bowlers!
2019-2020 India v Bangladesh 1st T20I Match
India will look to build on their impressive 2-0 Test series victory against Bangladesh by dominating three T20Is starting Sunday. The opening match will take place at Shri Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior; followed by one in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium one day later and one more match taking place in Hyderabad.
India won the toss and elected to bat first, led by Ravichandran Ashwin’s dominant innings that helped them post 341 for 6 in 50 overs. A 195-run partnership between him and Ravindra Jadeja created a competitive target for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh struggled with their batting, with only Shubman Gill providing any resistance as he scored an outstanding 119 off 176 balls. Their target was too far for them and were ultimately bowled out for 234. Ashwin led India’s attack with six wickets for 88 runs – his performance being the highlight.
India enjoys a dominant head-to-head record against Bangladesh, having won 31 of 41 ODIs with two ending in draws and 16 out of 17 T20Is between them, but Bangladesh surprised cricketing establishment when they stunned India at 2007 ICC World Cup and this marked the beginning of an intense and often bitter rivalry.
2024-2025 India v Bangladesh 1st Test Match

India have mostly retained their squad that defeated Pakistan in their previous series with only minor changes. Rohit Sharma will lead his side, with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja providing all-round batting support; Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel leading their spin attack respectively.
As for pace attack, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will lead it. Kuldeep could form part of a pace trio alongside them if conditions favour fast bowlers; otherwise Yash Dayal might add further pacers into the mix.
Bangladesh have also named an impressive squad, similar to the one which defeated Pakistan. Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead them, joined by Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Litton Das, Zakir Hasan Mominul Haque Syed Khaled Ahmed Taskin Ahmed Hasan Mahmud Jaker Ali Anik.
