Scorecard

New Zealand and Bangladesh have an intense rivalry that has grown stronger with each meeting since 2011. While New Zealand began as the dominant force, Bangladesh have gradually shown more resilience.

Bangladesh did their best, putting up an impressive score, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to beat New Zealand. Taskin Ahmed gave Bangladesh an early edge before their middle order imploded and never recovered from this point onwards.

Najmul Hossain Shanto batted bravely scoring 77 runs despite their best efforts; Michael Bracewell proved himself with four wickets taken.

Shanto was caught by Ross Taylor at slip for an impressive 63, and Rachin Ravindra joined Devon Conway to rebuild New Zealand’s innings, reaching 50 without too many wickets being lost before eventually being bowled out after an extraordinary 102-run partnership between them.

Tom Latham was brought on to add some firepower to New Zealand’s innings, and he did not disappoint. Hitting numerous boundaries to add excitement to their innings and forging an impressive 105-run partnership with Latham – they propelled Black Caps towards victory quickly with plenty of runs remaining until target reached with ease.

New Zealand have secured their place in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy with this win, sending a strong signal about their hopes of reaching the World Cup tournament itself. Pakistan have seen their hopes for reaching final fading quickly as well. New Zealand have received a much-needed boost heading into World Cup.
