In all likelihood, however, Pakistan should come out victorious; though due to poor weather forecasting this match might end up as a washout.
Both nations share an extensive cricketing rivalry that spans over five decades, featuring an array of ODIs and T20Is between them. Since the first one took place back in December 1973, both sides have played over 100 ODIs; with over half winning! Their most recent T20I encounter took place eight years ago; so this match will mark their first meeting again since.

Now, they will reunite for two Test series starting August 30 at Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium with Pakistan hoping to uphold its dominance while Bangladesh look for their first-ever win against their home team.
Bangladesh made a solid start to their pursuit of 451 as openers Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam shared an opening partnership of 100 before rain stopped play for the day. Liton Das’ unbeaten 76 not out and Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s hard-hitting 77 helped Bangladesh post an impressive first innings total in response to Pakistan’s total 448 all out total.
Pakistan’s batsmen struggled against India’s disciplined bowling attack during their second innings, with Rohit Sharma taking three wickets and Axar Patel taking four. But Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali staged an extraordinary comeback to add 154 runs for sixth wicket – enough to keep their hosts at bay!
Skipper Shanto expressed his satisfaction with his side’s performance. He lauded them for being able to push the game right through to the final day, praising batters’ efforts while acknowledging they believed in themselves and worked extremely hard in practice matches and matches alike. Shanto hopes they continue their good form into future matches and hopes they continue their impressive streak in future matches as well.

ODIs
PAK-W Vs BAN-W, Live Score, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan and Bangladesh both lost their opening two matches of this tournament and neither side is yet victorious; both will hope for some sort of redemption against each other, but weather could prove fatal again.
Pakistan may choose to make some adjustments in their final match against Sri Lanka as the result isn’t as crucial to their tournament goals. Babar Azam could be dropped for Usman Khan while Kamran Ghulam may make their debut. Meanwhile Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf may get another opportunity to showcase their abilities.
Though both teams had disappointing starts to the tournament, both have made great strides forward since. Pakistan have impressed with their bowling while their batsmen have upped their scoring rate significantly. Fakhar Zaman has excelled in limited overs cricket and will look to continue that form into future matches.
Bangladesh’s batting has been the real disappointment. Their experienced pair of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah used to serve as reliable anchors, yet have recently performed like volatile assets. With Mushfiqur Rahim struggling in particular, younger players like Shanto Hridoy and Jaker Ali having to step up.

T20I Series
Pakistan has seen their hopes for defending the Champions Trophy title dashed by heavy defeats to New Zealand and India, but will still hope to leave with some positive memories from this tournament. Bangladesh beat Pakistan in an exciting T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium by three wickets last time they met; that match became one of the most entertaining T20Is of recent times, so it will be interesting to see how both teams fare. Both will want to avoid repeat performances but expect an exhilarating game!
Bangladesh will tour Pakistan for the first time since 2001 and this five-match series presents them with an invaluable chance to cement themselves as global cricket power. Starting May 25, it will move on to Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for matches on May 30, June 1 and 3. Additionally, both teams hope that this tour serves as crucial preparations ahead of qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup tournament that both are hoping to make.
Both teams should field similar XIs for this fixture; Bangladesh could consider substituting Usman Khan in place of Tayyab Tahir who has battled through injuries to make an impression in recent games. Pakistan could make several adjustments on the bench with Kamran Ghulam or Faheem Ashraf likely candidates to replace Tahir as possible inclusions.
Bangladesh will rely heavily on veteran batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah before their departure from international cricket. So far in the Champions Trophy they’ve both been fairly subpar, so any resistance from either will only make for an exasperating tournament for Bangladesh Tigers.
