Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah will lead their pace attack alongside Mohd Siraj and Arshdeep Singh as support.

Axar Patel will add strength to India’s wicket-keeping options in this tournament, building upon his IPL success and previous performances at the Twenty20 World Cup. Axar Patel (WK)

Axar Patel hails from Gujarat and made his FC debut for their state team at 18 in 2012. In his inaugural season he impressed and finished as leader of Vijay Hazare Trophy with 29 wickets. This led to him joining Punjab Kings (now Delhi Daredevils) of IPL as an overseas player before earning himself an overseas test contract in 2019. With his accurate bowling style that allows for space to close off batters’ gaps Axar consistently delivered performances which earned him respect from cricket fans around the world and garnered Test selection by Bangladesh cricket captain Taraka Moaning was quickly secured and his skills earned him Test status from BC officials.

He made his Test debut against England at home and didn’t disappoint, impressing with both ball and bat and even dethroning Ravindra Jadeja as captain, despite being second choice spinner. Additionally, he scored key runs at key moments down the order.

Thought to have only played limited-overs cricket, Axar proved his mettle by earning selection to India’s squad for the 2024 ICC World Cup and also as part of their tour squad to New Zealand later that year.

Others might presume Axar lacks any skill with the ball, yet this assertion would be wrong. He doesn’t spin his balls violently but rather uses their length and height to mislead batters into falsely thinking their shots have hit hard enough to hit home runs. Furthermore, he’s an expert at picking up wickets with a reasonable economy rate.

Axar boasts an outstanding record in shorter forms of the game and will look to build upon that in the 2024 ICC World Cup. He hopes to add to his wicket count while making an impressionful statement of intent with longer formats too. A promising young player, Axar will surely prove invaluable as an integral member of India’s side for this tournament – one of its finest spinners and surely an invaluable asset!

Suryakumar Yadav (WK)

India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav for their three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka, with Shubman Gill serving as his deputy captain. Yadav previously led India during their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe after the 2024 T20 World Cup; Hardik Pandya was an alternate T20I captain but has been left off the squad due to an ongoing shoulder injury recovery process.

Yadav played an instrumental role in India’s journey to the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados. He helped them beat Afghanistan and England during Super Eights and semifinal matches, as well as scoring 733 runs overall – including four half-centuries and one century. Furthermore, his incredible catch against South Africa will remain memorable forever.

As two-time T20I cricketer of the year and modern-day icon, Yadav will aim to lead India to new heights as their full-time T20 captain. His competitive spirit, athleticism and opportunistic approach will serve him well in leading India as its white ball captain.

Rishabh Pant is expected to remain the premier wicketkeeper during India’s series against Sri Lanka, while Sanju Samson will serve as his deputy. Both players feature for Mumbai domestic cricket teams and have served in this capacity with Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians during IPL season.

Yuzvendra Chahal will remain India’s main spinner, while Ravi Bishnoi may replace him as its second. Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will lead India’s pace attack; Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from playing after a long season. As reserves, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal could feature as opening batters while Rinku Singh could finish. Additionally, Abhishek Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad could feature as all-rounders.

Jasprit Bumrah (WK)

Jasprit Bumrah has made remarkable progress since making his domestic debut against Vidarbha in 2012-13’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match. Since then, he has become one of the key members of Mumbai Indians (MI), contributing significantly towards their five-time IPL triumphs and becoming their second highest wicket taker behind Lasith Malinga.

Bumrah has recently been in impressive form. He is in contention for inclusion in India’s squad for the 2024 World Cup in UAE and should play an instrumental role for their side at that event as well.

Recent performances during his tour to Australia and South Africa earned him selection to the World T20 squad. One of the fastest bowlers worldwide, he will undoubtedly prove difficult for opposing batsmen to score runs off his fast bowling.

Bumrah boasts a reliable bowling technique that he utilizes at any point during an innings to take wickets at will, making him a game-winner in T20 cricket and showing great maturity for such a young player. He makes for the ideal partner of Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar on any batting line-up.

He is an extremely hard worker who takes his job seriously. This dedication has allowed him to make rapid strides in his career. As one of MI’s key members, he led them to three titles in succession – an inspiring prospect for future Indian cricket!

Bumrah Ganesan is married and lives with his daughter Sanjana Ganesan in Chennai. Bumrah enjoys spending time with his family as much as possible; watching movies and listening to music are his two primary hobbies; Amitabh Bachchan is his favourite actor who often appears on his television screen!

Bumrah also takes an avid interest in cars, being an enthusiastic BMW M3 owner himself. Additionally, he is an accomplished sportsman for India having won multiple awards with strong desire for victory and positive outlook on life – becoming an example for other players to emulate and set good examples to follow.
